Default 60+ MPG Owners Club

Having recently broken into the 50+ MPG club, I thought this might be time to make a new goal. This could be fun trying to squeeze every mile out of a tank of gas.

There will be no short tanks allowed. Minimum acceptable tank distance for inclusion is 550 miles.

For those who think it can't be done, have a look at this thread: Clean MPG Fiesta Review (63mpg)

With winter coming it will probably be spring before any of us make it. So, who is going to be first among us to make it? My money is on Ecomaniac.

I got a 546 mile tank a few weeks ago.....automatic SE with 6700 miles on the car. Havent done any mods yet, perhaps the grill blocker would take me over the 550 mark.

Thanks for the vote of confidence...60 MPG is a goal of mine...I like the minimum tank distance of 550 miles! I've gone over 550 miles on 4 tanks with one of those being 600.1 miles.

My best tank was a trip of 400.9 miles with 1 stop in 93 degree heat...no AC! (my son is a real sport) I got 57.6 MPG.

Yes winter will be a real killer and I will soon mount my second set of wheels with dedicated snow tires...that will lower my current lifetime average of 45 MPG over 29,500 miles.

However, I may have to wait until I replace my OEM tires with LRR tires to reach 60 MPG.

I had that tank in mind when I made my prediction. I peek at your mileage log every time I add a tank on fuelly.

As a side note I had a great run today. I'm not sure how many miles I went because I tried a new route and failed to check before I started. I'm guessing it was 65-70 miles. Anyway, I reset my Ultra Gauge trip meter before I left and managed 60.9 mpg and brought my tank up to 51.9 mpg.

I think I'm going to like this new route. It cuts out about 150' of altitude gain and is on back-roads where I can really drive slow. Length wise, it may be shorter than my normal route, but I got lost and ended up circling a pretty big lake.

Can I use a taser if I make it?

Everyone needs a goal. I know it can be done, the question is whether I can do it under my drive conditions. My last two tanks have been just barely over 50 mpg in winter temperatures, so will I be able to add 10 mpg when the temps go up? We shall see.

but they spend more driving 20 miles than your driving a mile when it comes to overall for a given time.

I'm like 15 miles one way to school (old butt college student ) and average 33 or so... then again I stop 15 times for lights and stop signs...
