Was considering blocking off my grill entirely once the sub-30 deg temps get here. Anyone here run a total Grill blocking setup, and does it help the engine warm up faster?

I think this subject was covered last winter? Or maybe it was addressed as a fuel-saving measure by acting as a deflector and the consensus for that was that it wasn't recommended. In -30 deg sub-artic areas, I can't see how it would hurt. Chicago is experiencing (so far) its warmest December temps in 9 years (thanks to la nina as the weather people have been blaming it on) so I wouldn't have a need to do it.

While it may not increase fuel economy aerodynamically it will warm your engine up faster and get it to its most efficient operating temp sooner which will reduce consumption.

Isn't the thomostat for? My ScanGagauge 2 shows a temp of anywhere form 178 to 181 most of the time when warmed up. Once in a while it hits low 190's. 130 is when I start to get heat.
