That aside, if they're not too blue/purple colored and you use DOT stamped projectors to make them look stock, chances are you'll never get pulled over.
I think we should all use these! It's best in fog, bright enough to see in front. Not too much darker than stock. Let's be honest, do you really need to see a 1/4 mile (exaggerating) in front of you to avoid a deer? Best of all, no body will be blinded!! OMG
JPG JDM Yellow 2300k EDIT: Yes, i just realized they're fog lights. But they do come in headlight/bulb type.

But seriously, even these JDM yellow lights are illegal. Depending on the state, they do not emit enough lumen or are not white enough.

I've lived in Pennsylvania and Missouri. Missouri states a 'white' light is required by law and Pennsylvania states 1100 lumen max with headlights and fog lights combined.

And with what BondiBlue said, keep them between 4300k and 6k and make them appear stock and you should not have a problem 'hiding' the legality of them. A cop does not know what type of headlight/bulb combination each car has come with from the factory off the top of his/her head. So your odds are slim of getting caught.

But really, i say go with the JDM yellow if your worried about blinding others. (don't really unless your state allows it.)

Just remember the bulbs have to be the H11b to work w/o mods:

I have not had any LEO make a comment about HID headlights. If you have bulbs over 5k it is obvious that something is not normal. I was at an Autozone last week and pickup pulled in next to me with BLUE bulbs. While we were comparing notes, a Deputy pulled in and joined the conversation. His only comment was the pickup color was waaay obvious and with the lift kit it could be obnoxious. I have had a few comment on LED brake bulbs but, just being curious.

I briefly looked into those years ago. Same concept as hunters/range shooters wearing yellow glasses. It cuts down any haze/glare and seems to "sharpen" what's in front of you. If they weren't illegal (the cops here are picky, especially with an obvious color headlight such as that) I might have gotten them since I do primarily all city driving so I don't need a mile of highway visibility.

The "mod" for regular H11's is just pulling a screw out and turning the connector on the passenger headlight so you can plug the pins for the power to the ballast in. No big deal.

The 8k's I put in everything (now the Fiesta) are less colorful then the factory HID's in my wifes Acura, those are like welding arc's. Its the 10's and 12's that are retarded and straight blue or purple. I get comments about the 3k fogs I put in other cars about how gold they are. Never anything about the color on 8k headlights.

Agreed. I thought the sane thing. But every once in a while I'll sew some civic rolling around with them on.
