My wonder. If there is a front end collision, can or will it affect the airbag sensors and either deploy when my needed or not deploy when actually needed due to a larger distribution of the impact?

Think it looks awesome! Good job!
I don't think it would be an issue either way. The light bar is bolted on to the bottom of the bumper sub-frame (by the way). If my understanding is correct the deployment of the airbags is an inertia thing, along with the collision. Meaning when you hit something you would need to have a certain amount of deceleration detected.

Out of the hundreds of light bars that Primitive Racing has sold (mostly Subaru's and Evo's at this point). This has never been reported as an issue.

I need to ask though: how tough are the hella lenses? Where I live, gravel being kicked up by big rigs is a fact of life (just look at my hood )
I don't know about how tough the Hella lenses are, I haven't had a rock hit yet. But if I had to do it over again, mainly due to the wiring harness; I would spend the extra money and get PIAA's. But you can buy rock guards for the Hella's.

Check your state and local laws. In Minnesota you can't even have aftermarket lights installed, let alone use them while driving on open roads. I'm sure most states would allow use in an off road situation.

My fogs are legal, though here in OR supposedly in non-fog situations you are supposed to turn them off within 500ft of other cars. Nobody does it though, and I have yet to hear someone getting a ticket for it.

My lights are for night gravel/winter TSD rallying. The PIAA fogs are set up to help see the side of the road and for corning. The Hella driving lights are not street legal to the best of my knowledge here in OR. So they are for off-road use.

They are wired so that they only turn on with the high-beams. fogs are wired independently.

I am hoping to have the install wiring blog posted this weekend.

500 ft. oncoming, 350 ft. following. All situations, fog or not...

Oregon Driver Manual
Quote:
Dimming Headlights
When your vehicle’s high beam headlights are on, you must dim or
lower the beam when an oncoming vehicle is within 500 feet. You also
must turn off any auxiliary lights.
Dim the headlight beam when you are following another vehicle within
350 feet.

It also is illegal to have auxiliary lights or fog lights on at times when
you are required to dim your headlights.

Do not drive a vehicle with only the parking lights on when driving at
night or in bad weather. Using parking lights alone when there is limited visibility is not only unsafe, it is against the law. The law requires a vehicle stopped or parked on a road or shoulder to have parking lights on when limited visibility conditions exist.
Hopefully the front LED bezel lights are considered parking lights rather than auxiliary lights since we can't turn them off...

They are indeed parking lights. They turn on when you turn on your parking lights, and I would say that is the definition of parking lights.

Great write-up! Going to be very useful when I wire up some glove-box lights (fuse taps!!!) as well as amber turn signal LEDs (between taillights and inside the outside edge of the side mirrors).
