As for windshield tint: They're usually refering to the banner across the top. If you look closely at the edge of the glass(next to the door/A-pillar), there is a tiny, tiny mark(AS-1) printed on the windshield. That marks the lowest point that you can tint. Every state is different, but I believe tinting below that arrow is illegal in any state. I have heard of clear or superlight tints for UV protection being used on the windshield, but, again, I don't think any of those are legal. CHECK YOUR STATE/LOCAL LAWS! Also, some states can enforce their standards on out-of-state vehicles. NC and TN may even enforce the home state's laws, even if it complies with their laws.(beware NY, RI, and others!) Getting mine done on 3/2. First place I went to quoted $350 after a $50 off seasonal special. Where I’m going is doing all 9 windows for $250. I’ve been quoted lower but not significantly lower and by less reputable shops. Better to pay a little more for a better finish and peace of mind.

I went to a local guy that's been around for 20 years, my whole family has always gotten their tint done with him. He's moved into commercial tinting, but he does auto on the side. Got all windows done including windshield strip, $150. Best tint job you'll find anywhere. This guy is awesome. and he keeps your car clean, he doesn't get crap everywhere.
My brother, one time, went to somebody else to get tint. when he picked up his car here was stuff all over his interior that he had to clean, and within the first 2 months there were tears and bubbles popping up everywhere. |
