Default To Wait for the 2012 Focus...or to not to?

I'm so torn. They're not even in the same class of vehicles!

Those of you who've been looking forward to both cars (Fiesta and the 2012 World Focus), how and what are you going to choose?

I'm leaning toward early adopter for the fiesta and I'll ride out the less stressful 2nd or 3rd year new focus if I end up willing enough to give up my fiesta that soon. I'm really enticed by the MyFord Touch interface and digital dash. Heaven forbid if I were to start a family sometime in those next few years the extra space would be helpful.

The release is "early 2011"... but I would bet on March as the started release and then taking delivery around May assuming nothing horrible happens during initial production. What I'm saying is expect things to go about as well as they did for the fiesta launch.

seeing both at the auto show, I'm happy with my Fiesta. the Fiesta steering wheel looks better to me and the fuel door is on the drivers side where it belongs the Focus has rear discs and a coolant temp gauge. we'll see.

I'll be the first to come down on the other side. After seeing and driving the Ocean Blue EU Fiesta last May, I was completely convinced it would be my next car. Critical analysis of the Fiesta at NAIAS just feet away from the 2012 Focus led me to realize the Focus is the better choice for me at the point I'll be when I'm actually buying the car next Spring. I did a pretty thorough personal comparison (Link).

Something about the new Focus really catches my eye and keeps drawing me to it. The front end of the car is almost perfect. I initially thought the headlights were much less dramatic and unique than the dragon's eyes of the Fiesta but the more angles and pictures I've seen as well as the chance to see it in person have brought out the well crafted execution of the Focus' details.

Really, the Fiesta is just too small for what I expect my family to be like during the time period I plan to own my next car. The Focus has more space, some cool interior features, and somehow has a face I like even more than the US Fiesta.

None of this is to say I'm unhappy with the Fiesta. I cannot wait to test drive one; if things work out, I may even do a long term rental should some find their way onto rental lots. I eagerly await reading of your Fiesta experiences!

The Fiesta feels so refined it's about the way I expected the new Focus to be. The only real disadvantage of the Fiesta compared to the new Focus is interior room. I like the Focus Sedan styling better than the Fiesta, but it's just not worth waiting longer and/or paying more. The Fiesta is a stunning car that meets all my needs. Plus, by the time the Focus starts trickling in Fiestas should be plentiful.

The way it's going, I expect the 2012 Focus to be here before my Fiesta! I'm thinking I should get a car with a bigger back seat anyway, as my son will soon be as tall as me.

If I can swing it I'll get both, I really want a MK III world Focus in my stable to go with my ST.

Yeah, that "hatchback" looks sorta station wagoney to me. And I know station wagons are coming back in style, and it's a very pretty specimen of the breed, but that's way more rear end than I need, since my car only ever transports me and my dog.

Also, and I realize some of you may not agree, but I see a lot of 2002ish Taurus in the Fiesta's styling - a design I adore; the Focus has its own styling, which the 2012 stays true to. So it's a Fiesta for me.
