A worker is only as good as his tools and suplies. Good tools, good parts, manament who knows what's going on and cares, equals good product.
Years ago where I work, if you wanted to put up a hook on the wall to hang up a tool, you went and got a drill and anything you needed and did it. It was great. You were empowered. Now you drill a hole in the wall you get fired! It's a food safety issue. Really it is. Dust, who knows what is in the dust. More rules and paperwork. We workers get trained as to why we have these changes. So our productiveity and quality keeps going up. It isn't location or union or non union, it's how the plant is run. A cheap car like the Fiesta would cost too much to build in the U.S. Good jobs in Mexico would solve a lot of problems for everyone. Dan 11 Fiesta Monday 26, or else. 65 Corvair |

[QUOTE=nikita;40470]Plant, remember, were talking Mexico here. " Building codes? We dont need no stinking building codes." Some things did have to be modified for safety reasons.
QUOTE] Ever been there? The stereotype is kinda fun but it doesn't hold. Plants down there require all workers/visitors to wear steel toed shoes and some places also a hardhat. Not so on this side of the Rio Grande.

Because, like mentioned above, Ford can't afford to build a quality inexpensive car like the Fiesta in the US....the workers don't have the skills and they demand too much pay. |
