Default Scum bag parking.

I consider myself lucky when it comes to my rides. I have had very nice cars and have always had luck with them. I always and I mean always maintain the living crap out of them. Same goes for the cleanliness of them.

When I park my ride I don't ever park near someone. Always out of the way. Well I come out of work and some crappy van is parked not 1 foot from my car. Sure as can be there is a huge dent in my drivers door with a nice mark and paint smudge that matched there paint. I can't stand people that have no respect. My car was atleast 10parking spots away from the nearest car. In a corner of the parking lot that is never used by anyone.

Say hello to my biggest fear. Everytime I go grocery shopping now with my Fiesta I try to park as far away as possible from everyone else.

People can be real jerks sometimes. Sorry to hear about your damage.

I know there's another thread about parking dings and dreads somewhere, but can't find it now...

I work at a university with a full parking by 9am, so I am fearful of getting scratches too. Maybe if I could install magnets on the under side of the body that repel other cars...

This thread promotes vandalism, which is illegal, thus needs to be closed.

Well at least that what the mods would be saying.

The jerks aren't just limited to non-car enthusiasts. A friend of mine's wife nearly bit off the head of a Mustang Bullitt owner as she opened her driver's door right into the side of her Lightning

You might be able to get a touchless place that can "undent' the damage. I think one of our members is in the industry too If you can post a pic, maybe we can see if he's around to make a judgment whether you can fix the damage.

Mods would be saying a simple rewording for the OP's rant/vent is only required. Otherwise, it's just one of our members who, like many here, really don't like those who don't respect others' property.

Luckily for me, most of the stores I shop at have parking spots that are pretty big. This is not by chance, I make a point of not shopping at places that only divide a parking spot with one line and try to cram as many spots in as possible. Also, I only park next to nice looking cars that looks like the owner maintains it....and that are not soccor mom kid haulers and whenever possible, 4 door vehicles, because most of those doors are short and they'd have to really be close to you to ding your car with it...where as 2 door vehicels doors are longer. Parking with nothing around you seems like a great idea...until cars/people you'd have avoided parking next to decide to park next to you....parking next to possibly other car enthusiest eleminates that chance at least for a bit of time. If the parking lot is on a hill, I do not park lower down from someone as many people will forget gravity and when they open the door, it swings out harder then expected. Where I park at work, I know everyone that parks next to me....and the spots are big anyway.

Still, there is no accounting for people that have no respect for other peoples property. I hope that you are holding that person responsible and that they will be footing the bill.

Did you go and attempt to track down the van's owner, file a police report, and submit an insurance claim? This would be the proper route and their insurance would have to pay for the damages. A lot of hassle for a door ding, but if it were as severe as you mentioned, and of course on a days-old car, then I'd be willing to waste my time, per se.
