Today I finally retired my 2006 Malibu's plates to the wall in my guest room / office. The plate marks number 28 in my collection. 17 Michigan plates were found in my Great Grandfather's garage and range from 1948-1979. 6 plates belonged to my parents, 1 plate started with my parents and ended with me, and 4 plates are my own. (which ones are which are noted in the big picture on flickr)

Hey, that's pretty cool. So cool in fact I'm surprised no haters rolled in here. I actually have something similar in my garage in New Mexico. Got a butt load of old plates plus some of my own and presto instant coolness. Alot of the older ones are from Montana and South Dakota where my grandparents and parents were raised.

I don't think I can make that extensive of a collection. I think my dad used all the old license plates reinforcing the floor of the 1970-something Country Squire station wagon we had when I was a kid.

My grandfather's shop (deceased) has a ton of old plates on the wall. I cherish them - each one a part of the family's history.
