Exclamation Sparkplugs on Olds 2000 Intrigue

It's a shot in the dark, but anyone here changed the sparkplugs on an Oldsmobile Intrigue 2000? It's a V6 3.5L engine - a friend's car. I've only done the plugs (and wires!) on my 4-cylinder 97 Escort, which was easy. Reading some other forums makes this Olds sound daunting since it has plugs on the back of the engine (argh!??). Any tips are appreciated. (:

If it's like a lot of other cramped transversely mounted engines, you pretty much just have to pull the plastic covers off the engine, pull the coils, clean off the grime the best you can and have at it. I've only done one car with that setup myself, and I pretty much just had to feel around back there since you couldn't see crap. Hopefully you have a sparkplug socket with the rubber inside so you don't drop any plugs behind the motor!

He has to buy a spark plugs socket, so planned on getting the rubbery one. Is there any good way to clean out the sockets other than a shopvac? Neither of us have one available :\

Using a blow gun from an air compressor to blow out the spark plugs
before you remove them is best. Also put a little anti-sieze on the
threads of the new spark plugs.

We don't have anything that blows air or sucks air... shared driveway area :\ will put some anti-seize on if it doesn't have it on the threading.

You could try putting a rag over a screwdriver end to scrape off any of the more "caked on" gunk and try a can of that compressed air (the kind you use for computer keyboards to dust with) to blow off the rest.

Good ideas. We may have found an alternative vacuum though (: Had to reschedule due to the parts store closing at noon :\
