Exclamation The BIG STORM of 2011

I figure its just about time for people to start sending in pics and personal stories about the storm and how their Fiesta faired.

I'm in Buffalo, NY and so far we have only cloudy skies. From most reports I don't think we are going to get it like most of the nation. Maybe 10 to 15 inches which is just normal for us. However, some schools have already posted closings for Wed.

Yeah, there's this feeling of "anticipation" here in Michigan. Nothing but gray cloudy skies and cold - but with all the media hype, one can't help but say, "Bring it on." And we'll truly see how the Fiesta does.

So far we have about 4-5" of snow, and 30-40 mph winds...it's great here!

Oswego ... they're forecasting 8-15 inches for the next 12-16 hours. We have a storm warning in effect thru 4 AM Thursday. The real problem is that some points will be low visibility and THAT will cause the messes.

This forecast will by no means be the worst I've seen in the last 20 years ... unless the city does it's usual and doesn't flippin' plow! Then I might get peeved.

Default It's not a good sign

When it's already snowed 6-8" and your driveway is clear due to it all being blown away. It means it's piling up somewhere else. Already talking about 6-8' drifts forming and the storm only started 4 hours ago and has another 16 hours. 0-1/4 mile visibility right now. Picked up my car from being serviced (engine block recall) in a blizzard tonight. The last big storm, picked up my car from being serviced (electrical TSB) in a blizzard. For the safety of my neighbors in the Midwest, I hope I don't need to take my car in for major service again.

Luckily if needed, I can work from remotely from home should the weather get too bad or the roads too nasty. I've done that maybe 3 times in 20 years here, but it's doable.

Last "big" mess we had was early 2007 with a lake effect band dumping during the day, moving N overnight and coming back again ... for a week. Had a business trip to Massachusetts the following week. I left 12 degree temps and 7 feet of snow in the front yard for 35 degrees and hardly any powder. It was frikkin' Summer, I tell ya!

That year we got nailed a month later with 10 feet (yes people - feet) in a 24-hour period. Little burg SE of us nearly beat their own record ... missed by 1/2 inch of a Guinness Book snowfall (13 feet in 24 hours). The state brought in 4 big snowblower/plow combo trucks to help clear things.

We have full cupboards, a gas generator and crossed fingers. <shrug>

Forget about it, now it's totally filled in.
