As the title states, what is the point. What is someone going to do if they know your license plate number. Can somebody answer this for me.

Can't speak for everyone, but i won't post my tags online because i have vids that are far from legal. (Not in a Fiesta)
Laws vary state to state, but i don't want to make it any easier for the cops to figure out who owns my car if the wrong person watches a street race vid. |

If you ever read the tailgating thread, you'll see that I drive the speed limit pretty much everywhere and do not condone street racing of any kind. That's what tracks are for.
Thus my plate is easy to find. If someone wants to track down my residence via plate info, go ahead. My pistol is loaded and my dog is protective.

Some may feel the need to after having participated in activities that could be contrary to laws, insurance regulations, and/or society standards. In most cases, it creates a personal sense of "privacy".

In today's society it just makes sense to keep this info out of the spot light. I'd be more worried about stalkers, thieves or crazy's who just want to cause trouble. Don't make it easy on them.

Not necessarily in this instance but the S&W, dog and bad ass attitude is great if you're expecting trouble. But the stalkers and crazy's are the ones you don't know or expect. You're dog or gun can't stop identity theft or property damage if you're not there to see it. You don't know how many lurkers in you're area might be reading these post and decide they like or dislike your car, post or whatever and decide to do something about it. Sounds paranoid? Yes! But it does happen. With little or no effort you can avoid this by blurring the plate number. I'm just say'n.

I traded in a bright yellow 2001 Ford Ranger Edge with graphics on the sides and a whaletail on top of a hard cover. In the area I live it stuck out like a sore thumb and EVERYONE knew who owned it, and I'd get random strangers coming up to me stating they've noticed me all over town....a little creepy with the amount of places they could pinpoint me at. Eventually the same people we're seeing me a lot, and the FB requests started up....from people i only knew cause they saw my truck....
I'll take my privacy thank you, blurring out license plate has become standard, especially since it's vanity and it is easily remembered.

My mom used to work at the DMV. You can learn a lot, if you know where to ask, about someone from a license plate. I love FF and its members, but trusting strangers online is a dangerous thing (especially for women). Also, the pictures here are public, and not restricted in anyway, so the silent crazies can see them just as easily.
