Default 2013 Ford Fusion/Mondeo

I thought I would never want something bigger than a Focus, but this has me thinking otherwise.

2013 Ford Fusion debuts along with 47-MPG Fusion Hybrid, 100-MPGe Fusion Energi

And that's why it's gonna sell! I'd buy one, but I'm too poor...

Plus, no hatch...

The 1.6 EB version gets something like 26/37 MPG. What this is telling me is that you no longer need a small car to get great MPG, you can get equally good MPG in a big car, you just have to pay a lot more.

I'm still several years away from buying another car but this is already a front-runner. I can't see anyone topping this in the near future (but that's what I thought about Fiesta and Focus too).

It might price a bit higher than the current car on average, but just like the new Focus they'll give us a stripper to keep entry point within reason.

Wish there was going to be a wagon, but it would eat escape sales...

Remember that real-world and EPA are two different animals but still, I would imagine high 20s, low 30s to be very doable.

If the hybrid can really do 47/44 then it will be as good as my Prius with non crappy LRR rubber on it.

Could be a win-win for sure.

I would bet it would still be much easier to get rated eco in a small car like Fiesta than the Fusion though.

I was very close to getting the Fusion before the Fiesta. The size of the Fiesta had me hemming and hawing. My wife put me back on center because the real reason to purchase the Fiesta was for MPGs. The 2013 Fusion looks nice and hopefully, the 279 HP EcoBoost 2.0 is a good match-up for it.
