Trying to find out the kind of car Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer drove in THE BIG STEAL (1947). There’s a great chase sequence in the film and they’re driving/riding along these treacherous Mexican roads in a convertible … I’d like to find out what that car is. It was a two-door with a rumble seat. Gorgeous vehicle! THANKS!

If I could find a still from the flick I might be able to ID the car ... I'm looking but so far can't find anything. Also, cannot access YouTube from work, so any clips there can't be accessed.

Here's the YouTube for when you're not at work: The Big Steal (1949)---Don Siegel - YouTube
Also, it was released in 1949 not 1947. And it's a 1934 Buick. I googled Car in "The Big Steal".

That's SUCH a beautiful car! Of course in the film, Mitchum hides in the rumble seat and pops out, surprising Greer. Bit difficult to fathom how a big dude like Mitchum could even fit in a closed rumble seat. But ... what I would give to have that car!
And now, knowing what it is, I'll be able to sleep tonight. AUDREY ANSWER instead of AMBIEN is probably healthier in the long term anyway.

I've ridden in the rumble seat of Model A's and there is lots more room under there than you think. And that Buick would have been somewhat larger I think.
