We have no idea how many of these 1000 reservations are legit and how many are just people playing with the configurator. Since there's no obligation, and you don't provide any meaningful personal info I'd guess at least 25% aren't serious and probably won't buy.
That said, I am serious and I want to make sure I'm near the front of the waiting list so I'm speaking to a dealer this weekend about how I can get my order into the factory system ASAP. |

Well Ford is bragging that the car will sell high and that all who have test driven the car are sure to reserve. So far I've seen quite a bit of negative reaction to the car from those who have driven it. Mainly due to the cars front end lacking fog lamps and changes to the dash.

Well maybe 75 is closer, but we'll see. I would definitely not compare it to the F-series trucks-that's the flagship moneymaker by far. As for the Fusion, that is more sales than I knew of; good point there.
Oh, and 15k/month? From summer to year end 2010 you mean? Last edited by streetfiesta; 12-09-2009 at 11:32 PM. Reason: info |

The only people who could possibly be disappointed with the lack of fog lamps and the dash are those who both need a perspective check and know exactly what the Euro interior looks like. The number of those people compared to the number of actual potential Fiesta owners is extremely low, as has been pointed out before. The US interior is just as good materials-wise as the Euro interior going by all the auto show pictures and Ford's own press-shots (which of course is no guarantee that that's the case, but it certainly does look that way), and the design is a bit different yes but nothing major. So it seriously makes no sense where you're coming from, though the lack of fog-lamps is a valid concern for drivers in certain regions. I don't know if we'll see the Fiesta top all its competitors in sales, but it doesn't need to. It's an image-builder and is meant to draw new customers to the Ford brand, and I think if it can sell in decent enough numbers (50-60k a year) it will succeed on both counts very, very well. The Fiesta Movement should be called the Ford Movement. Ford wants young people (like me!) to buy this car, and love this car, so five or ten years down the road we'll be buying Fusions instead of Accords. |

If not having fog lamps, and the slight changes to the dash to meet a few US requirements are going to cause you not to buy the car, chances are that you were not buying one anyway.

Powereshift, if you don't mind me asking, are you going to negotiate on the price when you go in or are you satisfied with the price as is? When I bought my Protege5 I found I hit a brick wall, as far as negotiating was concerned, because I was negotiating prior to any cars even being delivered to dealerships. Seems like I'm in the same situation again.

I have never had issues going over prices for new cars since I always got them on X-Plan being a supplier. My price is pretty much set when I walk in the door. My Focus and our Escape were purchased that way. Our only issue with the Escape was finding a 2007 Limited in the combo my wife wanted. Production was short on the 07's because the chromed-out 08's started early. Chrome is something banned at our house.

Having read numerous amounts of comments from articles on Car&Driver Motor Trend and Autoblog there were some negative reactions to the design of the car and many from those who have test driven the Euro Fiesta (90% of all negative reactions were towards the stupid LED Chrome Vents as opposed to real fog lamps). And as I recall Ford claims they're going to be able to sell nearly 100,000 units in 2010 for the Fiesta. But seeing how low the reservation numbers are I'm suspecting that Ford's numbers are going to be way off.
