Noticed something different today. I was specing out an SE hatchback with the Sport Appearance package and it was showing Chrome LEDs on the graphic instead of black. Did they change all LEDs to be Chrome only? I thought black was on the SE and chrome was on the SES...

Well you can still get the 17" Ford Racing Focus Rally wheels. The same ones on the H&R Springs car. I am even getting the same color, Blue Flame. (see attached). I am going to try a photoshop of a blue one with the wheels so I can see it without the stripes.

Those OZ rims would be great for my Fiesta ST Project.

I've been looking at this car (sedan version) for several weeks as a potential replacement for my current Cavalier. A couple of points I hope someone can clear up for me. First off, if I was to get this car, I think I would opt to get the Super Fuel Economy Package. I noticed for the Build and Price in Canada, the SFE package seems to be only available on the SE models - sedan and hatch. Is this true, or is it just standard on the higher SEL/SES models?

Secondly, when I see pictures of the interior, I don't seem to notice any engine temp gauge on the instrumentation. I found that a bit odd, unless it's part of the systems monitor.

Last, I also notice that this vehicle in the sedan version is going to be nearly the same size as the current Focus, which I assume would mean the 2012 Focus is going to jump up in size, possibly closer in size to the Fusion than it would be to the Fiesta? I'm also looking at the Focus, but it's nearly a full year before they're available.

SFE package is only available on SE. It requires the 15-in alloy wheels. Everything else in it is just bolt on, I think, so you could theoretically make any Fiesta into an SFE.

I couldn't find a temp gauge either when I sat in one at the auto show. I doubt it's integrated into the radio/phone screen. It's an unfortunate omission, but a Hyundai Accent I rented recently didn't have one either, I guess it's just a feature the industry doesn't see as necessary any more.

And isn't the SFE package about $795? If you drive about 15,000 miles a year, all highway, you will save about 20 gallons a year. At $3 or even $4 dollars a gallon, it will take you about 10 to 13 years to break even on the cost. If you do half city and half highway it would take you 20 to 26 years to break even.

I wonder if the info is presented digitally directly above the odometer? Anyways, thanks for the info.

That is true, but I expect to keep the car for as long as I can. Something for me to think about though.

I'm pretty sure that the SFE package's cost isn't in the fuel saving features. Ford hasn't been upfront about what exactly the SFE is composed of, but my guess is some underbelly streamlining and low rolling resistance tires which wouldn't cost much. My opinion is that the major cost is the aluminum wheels that comes in the SFE package.

Those exact same aluminum wheels are included in the "Sport Appearance Package" on the SE for only $255. I would guess the bulk of the cost is the underbelly plastics.

I am not totally sure I buy into that reasoning. The Focus came with the same wheels as the EU version. I think it had more to do with the fact the not enough people were selecting the option due to price. There may also be some warranty concerns with the 17" wheels since there is little sidewall to protect the rim from damage. The Fiesta Movement cars suffered from this issue. The reason for dropping probably had more to do with the option costing over 10% of the vehicle price.
