According to specs the SFE package includes:
• Rear Tire Deflectors • Underbody Shields • Blockers on Lower Grille • 15" P195/60R15 T Rated Tire • 15" Painted Aluminum Wheel • Spare Wheel and Wheel Cap • Speed Control Do you imagine any of these body parts being painted? I want a manual transmission Fiesta but Ford doesn't offer the SFE on the stick shift (!?) model. I had an idea of ordering most of the parts (except the tires, and wheels - I want 16", and speed control) on the SE. PS: Anyone have any idea what the rear tire deflectors might look like? The closest thing I picture in my mind are the rear wheel covers on the Honda Insight. |

I don't think it'd be hard to order these parts at all. In fact a saavy dealer would probably be alright with ordering them for you.
I also don't think these will be painted. I could be entirely wrong. However this is a package targeted directly at economy, so I don't think they'd bother painting the deflectors or body shields. |

I have small deflectors on the EU Fiesta I am driving, they are approx 2" long and stick out 1/2".

I would like to know what the normal PowerShift version is rated. I usually get better than advertised highway mileage out of my cars, but in the last couple of years that's largely been due to driving so slow (66 mph usually). I would like to know what I could expect from the PowerShift version, driven at a steady 66 mph on a flat expressway. In warm weather in my Mazda3 (with some mods that help fuel efficiency probably about 2 mpg), I used to hit 38 mpg in pure expressway driving at this speed. I was hoping to get mid-40s out of the car's replacement, whatever it ends up being.

I believe the regular Powershift is rated for 38 highway vs. 40.
They're probably using every trick in the book to get the SFE to 39.5, and then round up. In the real world I wouldn't be surprised if the difference was a single MPG. If so, or even if it is two, the payback would be longer than you'll own the car unless you drive a huge number of miles. I seriously doubt the SFE is worth the money. Just a good MPG number for the ads. I do wish someone could clear one thing up for me: does the regular Fiesta have no spare, but the SFE does? The Ford info suggests this is the case. Maybe because the regular tires are run flats (though this isn't stated), but for the SFT these are ditched to save rotating mass? Just a WAG, hoping for real info. |

So does the regular Fiesta have a steel wheel, or none at all?

Per the order guide found here:
http://fiestafaction.com/forums/2011...der-guide.html Fiesta S has steel mini spare (page 2) Fiesta SE sedan with SFE package has aluminum mini spare (page 5) I suspect the sedan needed the Al spare to get in the same test weight class as the hatch with the steel spare. Since the sedan is called out specifically, I suspect the SFE hatch has a steel mini spare. The Al will cost more so they'll put it in as few cars as possible. Potential weight save for lotus-phile hatch owners who still want to have the security of carrying a spare ![]() Also notice AL spare for sedan with powershift in the sport package. Probably for same reason. |
