Default SYNC $595 credit

A lot of people have been asking how the $595 for SYNC/Premium sound will work. Well this is the reply I got today.

Quote:
The $595 will be claimed as an incentive via VINCENT. 33112 - Fiesta "No Charge SYNC" Reservation Retail Bonus Cash.
This should work for both SYNC and non-SYNC vehicles. I will have more details tomorrow.

This is a recent message I got from rep.

Quote:
The Fiesta Reservations program allows customers to build a Fiesta on fordvehicles.com, and in return receive priority order handling, personalized vehicle build updates, and eligibility for $595 SYNC and Sound Bonus Cash (Bonus Cash equivalent of SYNC + Premium Sound) upon taking retail delivery of their new Fiesta by September 30, 2010 (S models ineligible).

OK, I guess I'm just stupid. I can't find anything that details what "premium sound" is and I got no response from Ford when I asked via email a couple weeks ago.

Premium sound means, stronger stereo with high watts usually peaking around in some lux cars at 400 wats stock. Then there are the speakers which are high quality speakers from like Bose, Sony, etc...

Ok, so it's not a head unit change like an audiophile, just more power and a speaker upgrade?

No, it does not change the headunit.

The Premium sound upgrades the speakers to Sont speakers, adds 2 speakers, and goes from 40 to 80 watts.

Presumably the head unit is being changed if they are going from 40W to 80W. Am I missing something?

The head unit is nothing but a controller for the other modules in the car that actually put out the sound for the radio speakers and the SYNC system

Ok thanks. Historically the amp and controls were all in one unit in the dash, so I thought that is what the term "head unit" referred to.
