I'm not certain when this silly little econobox caught my eye but my spidey sense tells me it was when Top Gear UK mentioned it during their 'news' period (and before The Test Drive).
After carousing along I found FiestaFaction and signed up. Jan 2011 as you can see and I've been lurking since then. Well I finished paying off my credit cards, got my Amex 'back' and was fully prepared to run my car into the ground and save up to put a significant down payment or even do the one-check plan (wire transfer anyway). Well the ground arrived quicker than anticipated one day as the transmission just couldn't do it anymore. The fluid change had only provided another month lol ![]() I managed to limp it to the nearest Target parking lot, fired up the iPhone's google maps and searched for the nearest Ford dealer haha. Caught a cab from there to the dealership. A few hours later I was out with a Yellow Blaze, a tidy down payment on the Amex (for the points and then paid off), FMC for payments and its been raining every. single. day. since then ......... literally ![]() So that's my experience lol.

Our story is similar, Christy's Protege blew its head gasket and repairs were > blue book for pro work or greater than my desire for at home repair.
We were going to do a Mazda 2 because it was the cheapest car we could tolerate and the day we went to test drive our neighbor had one in their driveway...we knew we couldn't get one after that! Her brother in law reminded us he was a ford dealer and found us our Lola at a dealership 50mi from him (210 from us). He delivered the car to my work and I signed papers on the hood. And they lived happily ever after! PS, we found out that the guy we sold the Mazda to for 350 recently got the head gasket done and has been loving it so all is right in the car karma world...he got a screaming deal and found bliss and we got a good deal and found our bliss too!

My 2002 Sentra was slowly but surely degrading. The suspension needed work, it had a few dings and dents and it basically didnt appeal to me, at all.
I had seen the Top gear UK test Drive of the Fiesta, and the car really caught my eye (and brought me a bit of nostalgia because the first car I ever drove was a '79 Fiesta) After showing my girlfriend some pics of the Fiesta online, she said we should go see the dealer for a test drive of our own. After she drove it around a bit, and I got my turn, we basically signed the papers right there and picked Kiwi up 2 days later. Fast forward to a month later - we both love the car and cant get enough of it, so we decided to get a second one so we can both get our driving fix. Hence, Onyx was brought home just after Christmas.

By February/March 2010 , we'd been debating about replacing the 2001 Neon we had for some time - we'd had it 9 years and 130K miles by then. Because we'd had such good luck through the years with Chrysler, we started there. Then *I* proceeded to look at all makers I could think of ... in the compact/subcompact arena. We wanted mileage, decent looks and a good price point that we knew we could afford to pay cash on.
I read reviews on a lot of stuff, distilled it all and passed on to her. Chrysler did not (and still has not) pulled their collective heads out when it comes to what Joe Blow wants in a commuter car. Chevy came close - I was considering a Cobalt. Hyundai lost out immediately as their website kept locking up once I selected a model - FF and IE both. Fooey. VW, Chevy, Ford, Toyota were the final 4. Toyota and VW went by the wayside for pricing although I did like VW Jetta quite a bit. Neither of us like the new Beetle. Then I looked at the type of discount structure my company arranged with GM and Ford. Hmmm. Pretty even. Then I remembered - Ford did not take any Fed cash during the economy tank of '08. Ford +1. Went to dealer and asked a few questions ... Fiestas were scarce/nonexistent in May last year around here. Hell, not even a TV commercial! <sigh> Ordered the bugger sight unseen in June, then got to sit in a Candy Red SES hatch 3 weeks later. Couldn't change the color as our car was in production and order now locked from change of color. <snaps fingers> Dang it! Took delivery 14 October and have had a ball ever since. The wife passed on unexpectedly 2 weeks ago but in the time between delivery and then we took more than a few "burn the dinosaur" road runs just for the heck of it. Although she loved the Neon (and it is a sturdy car), the Fiesta grabbed her heart and she loved it more. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Tomorrow it goes in for the 10K check and some other work. I plan on cornering my salesman and seeing what info he has on 2012 models. Until I can see the new color selection (Ford site does not have '12 up yet) I have to rely on anything from them.

I'd been passively shopping for a while knowing my blazer was on life support- liked the Fiesta from the first time I saw it, about 6 months before I ended up getting one, which was much sooner than expected....
The blazer wound up on it's top (if you drive like the dukes, everyone once and awhile you wind up like rosco). Drove the mustang for a couple weeks to get through the holidays and got the Fiesta the first week in January. From this: ![]() To this:
