Default Fiesta June Sales

The June sales figures are in.

Fiesta Sales 5,535
Focus Sales 21,385

That makes a 1st year sales total of 65,402 for the Fiesta.

I think it's a respectable debut, but in the long run for model longevity, a mfg would probably like to maintain a number closer to at least 10k units a month, which I'm pretty sure they will get to. They've pretty much nailed it on the styling, size and economy fronts. Now they just have to tweak the reliability and features aspect of the model.

I also believe they've been cannibalized by their own Focus as much as any competitor and my personal solution if I were Ford would be to increase their price difference even more by either lowering the Fiesta a bit or raising the Focus a bit, or both. Price reductions go over like a lead balloon by the bean counters however.

It's kind of an tough call in terms of pricing. Europeans are used to paying top dollar for a Focus, whereas over here it's been known as an entry level model. The trick for Ford is to get American Buyers to accept that a Focus is worth upwards of 25k. The Fiesta is probably priced as low as it can get, right on par with the Fit (the only other respectable sub-compact available in the states).

It costs almost as much to build a small car as a big car. An air bag in a Lincoln cost the same as a Fiesta. Also how many thye make has a huge affect on cost. If Ford can't make a resonable profit on the Fiesta, they should not make any.

Ford June Sales up 14 percent; Cars, Utilities Lead the Way; Fuel-Efficient New Trucks also Regain Momentum | Ford Motor Company Newsroom

According to the tables, Focus sales increased from 15,148 in June 2010 to 21,385 in June 2011. Fiesta sales increased from 1,028 to 5,535.

So even if the Fiesta is now cannibalizing the market price slot where the old Focus was, it appears that Ford managed to replace the cheap old Focus with more expensive new Focus sales.

Tough call. I think its good. They led the segment this month again if Im not mistaken.

Yaris 1402
Fit 4912
Aveo 3869
Versa4345
Accent 3612

Fiesta 5535

I know the Yaris and Aveo have new platforms coming out real soon. There is just not the kind of numbers to be had in this segment as there is the Focus, Cruze, Corolla ect...

With the Yaris sucking so bad there may be some nice rebates to be had soon before that get the new one out. That is if you can life with the center of the dash speedo. I have had nightmares about that.

We made one of the 5,535 purchases of a Fiesta in June. We test drove the Honda Fit and the Toyota Yaris. One of the things we didn't like about the Yaris was that center dashboard speedometer. I could tell that I was driving somewhere between 60 & 65mph when we test drove the car. When my wife test drove it, I rode in back and realized that the speedometer is perfectly placed so that the rear passenger seats can properly view the speedometer. What an engineering marvel. Fortunately, the expensive counseling sessions that I've had since the test drive have eliminated the nightmares!

We liked the Fiesta much better than the Fit or the Yaris and even though we have been adverse to purchsing American vehicles in the past, we decided to give it a try. Time will tell as far as reliability goes, but the Fiesta is a hoot to drive, gets great MPG and looks really cool.

I'm a June buyer too. Sight unseen, no test drive. Lurking here was enough to sell me

Ford had aggressive pricing on the '11 Focus so that could have taken sales away also.
