Was not sure what section to post this so mods move it if needed.
I like the looks of the hatch better. While once reserved to a S Sedan I am starting to rethink it a bit. A SE hatch would be quite a bit more but I keep cars a long time. It would also be nice to get cruise control. Now, I like the idea of a closed trunk. With the hatch you just bust out the back window and take what ever if your a thief. Is there more room in one or the other? The hatch would be easier to load bigger items with the seats laid down. The sedan is cheaper. Each persons needs are different. Most all of the time I would be driving it alone or with maybe one passenger. I would like all your opinions. Sometimes I over think things but Im the kind of guy that just cant make a snap decision on a major purchase like this. I saw a white hatch today and it really looked nice. I wish they made a S hatch back and it would solve this for me. Edit: Who makes the 5 speed for the Fiesta? I cant believe I dont know this. The Focus owners are raving about how good the 5 speed is in that car. Last edited by 3Mach1; 07-14-2011 at 11:59 PM. |

The hatchback is better looking. Upgrading to an SE from the S is a big jump monetarily, but if you want the features and will have the car a long time it's probably worth it. The S is still a great little car though; it's still a Fiesta afterall.

I have even considered in the back of my mind getting a automatic powershift or DCT or what ever you want to call it transmission. Just trying to think ahead. I seriously doubt that will happen but it has crossed my mind.

In my opinion, I think the hatch is the better option. But if cost is a concern, Ford unfortunately does not make an "S" trim for the hatch. Only "SE" and "SES". At least with the sedan you do have the option of getting a lower cost option "S" option as well as a higher end "SEL" version.

I've seen a car very similar to mine in Sedan. I can say definitively the hatchback is better.

I'm a Sedan owner i've heard a couple of things that you may want to keep in mind:
Hatch rear visibility is worse Sedan offers a larger rear view window so you have a bit more visibility. However Hatch also has more trunk storage if you take into account the seats down etc. While the Sedan is no slouch when it comes to trunk space your going to have a time trying to fit any larger items, there is alot of space but not much clearance. I once parked next to a green fiesta just like mine however in Hatch model and i have the opposite feeling im glad i got my Sedan... To me the Hatch is just too small That being said i've heard the Hatch has a better turning radius, but other than that i'm extremely glad i got the sedan. Just my two cents. Like others have said make sure you get at least the SE i have the 202a package and couldn't be happier the ambient light package will impress everyone and the six speaker sound system is quite nice. also Sync, sports package, cruise control, heated seats are a good thing to have. |
