Red & Black Premium Interior Upgrade Package NOT available with Race Red Exterior?

I ordered my 2012 Ford Fiesta SES last night. The dealer said that it should take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.

* Race Red
* 5 Speed Manual Transmission
* Red & Black Premium Interior Upgrade Package
* Power Moonroof


BUT my dealer just called me to say that the system will Not let them order a Race Red Exterior with the Red & Black Premium Interior Upgrade Package.
They are calling Ford to see if this is just a system error but right now it appears that the Red & Black Premium Interior Upgrade Package is only available with a few of the Exterior colours.

Yes it lets you build it that way on www.ford.ca

I built it that way a few times before I even went to the dealership.

Whaaat? That seems almost ridiculous. What are you gunna do, get a blue car with a red interior? That's gotta be a mistake of some kind.

I just ran through the online thing and it had no problem going race red with red interior.

I just checked Ford and it lets you build it that way there too, in fact when you choose Race Red as the exterior colour it makes you take the Red & Black for the Interior Upgrade Package, the White & Black doesn't seem to be available.

So even though you can build it on the Ford Canada website this is what the dealer is saying:


"It says it's a US only model,
The Canadian fiesta does not offer the red interior it is a plum interior, it you try to click on the interior swatches on the Canadian website it only shows charcoal, plum and cashmere."

"Here is out color order guide,
Ford has put the wrong name on the package, the "red is a plum with black piping and the white is cashmere with black piping.
It's stupid I know, we spend a couple of hours looking at the website, product pro, Boss building system and out order guides before we called Ford."

"The Plum interior is not the red interior in the picture I showed you, that is the American only red interior which I did not know until we went through the order process, and the plum interior is not available with the race red exterior."


So I guess I won't be buying a Ford after all. I've already started to voice my displeasure on Twitter & Facebook - and I won't stop there!

That's a good reason to not buy a car actually. If you don't like the interior you won't enjoy driving the car. That's where you spend all of your time.

I only bought the fiesta because it had a good interior in it.

Just like I won't buy a chevy truck because the gauges look cheap and old. Even though it has a better transmission and depending on year a more powerful engine I buy fords because the interior is better.

Especially in the op's case you're buying a brand new car. If you can't get exactly what you want you don't want to settle you have to pay for it either way, and I know most people don't want to pay for something that they didn't want.

Yes but it's more than just that. The Ford Canada website (www.Ford.ca) shows that this car is available with these options, but as usual Canadians are getting screwed over. We already pay significantly more for our cars (even though our Canadian Dollar is worth More than the US Dollar and has been for quite some time) and now this car is available - just Not to Canadians. Even though the Ford Canada website says that it is.

And it's not just the interior colour it's the whole Red & Black Premium Interior Upgrade Package - it's not available at all in Canada, even though the Canadian website says that it is.
