Default RIP Fiesta, I hardly knew ya.

I got my brand new 2011 Fiesta at the beginning of April because I needed a car that was good on gas for my hour long commute to work each day. It was a great little car that met and exceeded my expectations. MPG was consistantly around 38-41 per tank, it handled great and stored a lot of stuff for being such a little car. Well two Mondays ago, (8/29/11) I was on my way home from work traveling the same route. I generally keep my speed between 5-10 mph over the limit. I was doing 50 in a 45 on a two lane road when out of nowhere a chick pulled out in front of me. I didn't even have time to break before I smashed into her car. On a good note, no one was injured. I received a few cuts and swelling to my left hand, but that was the extent of the injuries. The police came as well as the fire truck and ambulance. The usual info was exchanged while the tow truck took my Fiesta away. I contacted my insurance company and had to play the waiting game to see if it was a total loss or if it could be repaired. I could tell just from looking at it that it would be a total loss. Well I got word back today, (9/8/11) that it was indeed totalled. The sliver linning to all is is that the Fiesta was the first car I ever got Gap Insurance with. So for now I'm just gonna drive my fiance's Corolla until I save up some money for a nice down payment to throw at my next vehicle. Onto the pictures.

I'm glad that you're okay and nobody was hurt! Looks like the car did it's job and kept you safe. Better luck next time around. That GAP insurance comes in handy though!

Glad that everyone was okay! Hopefully the insurance company didn't try to place the fault on you. Are you going to buy another Fiesta?

It's wonderful that the Fiesta was the only casualty here! Best of luck going forward.

As everyone else has said: I'm glad no one sustained any significant injuries. The Fiesta served you well it sounds like. I'm saddened by the pictures, especially to see a rare Monterey Grey biting the dust. Even if you're not jumping into another car immediately, or a Fiesta again in the near future, I hope you still visit FF a bit.

How many air bags deployed?

From the pictures, I see one below the steering column. I didn't one was there.
