This may be a dumb question, and I thought I knew what it meant but now I am not so sure....
On SOME window stickers there is a line: Equipment Group Savings - $xxxx This line is deducted from the final MSRP, and I always thought it was the result of some overlap in options packages. For instance my car (if you go by the options order list will have both black and chrome led inserts added not to mention what ever the normal insert is and will also have at least 2 maybe 3 sets of floor mats etc.) This is the result of having the SES 301A package, Sport appearance package and the interior protection package. My assumption was that the car would not ship with all these items but that maybe I would be credited some amount for the things that I paid for in one package but were then replaced by things I paid for in another package. (really wondering about those led inserts will I get chrome or black?) Well I guess I was wrong as my window sticker has no such "Equipment Group Savings" line. So what does the line mean exactly? Why do some cars show it and other do not? One thing I note is the only cars I have seen this line on are ones that are already on the lot or in dealer inventory (2011 and 2012)...cars that are on order like mine where I have looked at the sticker online I have not seen this Savings...however once on the lot punching in the VIN for that car will show the discount on the online version of the sticker.

I think the saving is in comparison to buying items separately vs. the group. However some options are not available separately. I got the 301A package on my Fiesta. and there was no equipment group savings on it either.

So I was looking at this one....
http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...12133&refid=FV I wonder were that $70 comes from....It seems to me they price packages as just that they don't call out each option at it's non-package price. They might want to show how much you saved by buying a package but they would not then take it off the price. It would be an FYI line only. Looking at the above I was thinking that maybe the ambient lighting came with both the 201A and the Sirius radio packages but of course would not be installed twice so there was a credit....just guessing but for some reason this thinking doesn't seem to work every time...almost like the discount is some arbitrary thing, though I am sure it is not.
