So it was a nice day today and I decided to take my Fiesta up near Lake Tahoe. The highway I took goes from around 4500ft to almost 9000ft in about 15 miles. Lots of curves and hair pins, it can be a lot of fun. Using the hill mode on the PowerShift for the ascent worked really well, I had no problem keeping up with cars with more power. I was really impressed.
This is when I was at the Mt Rose submit. I was at 8,924 feet. Fun fact: this pass is open year around despite all the snow it gets. I used the hill mode on the descent but not the whole time. The engine breaking on the Fiesta is pretty impressive. The tires felt like they could be a little better in some of the corners but for OE all seasons they weren't bad.

How did the car perform at high altitude ?
I recently attended a historic hill climb reunion in Keene NY. We were able to play around a little on the course. I too, used the hill assist and even tried low once. It was fun. |

The hill assist was mostly helpfull when going down the hill. It did seem to hold the gears a little longer going up.
Low worked OK going up. We didn't get very high speeds. The nice thing was if you lifted in a corner it didn't shift up,it also kept the revs up in the power band. I didn't try it down hill. |
