Default Problem

On a road trip the other day, driving all two lane roads, I found that if I don't watch my speed, it is very easy for it to creep up. 70 in a 55 zone.
Anyone have a fix for this ?
Most of the roads were two crooked for the cruise control.

Question

I notice my speed creeping up higher than intended from time to time. The car drives so smoothly, even past 65MPH, that it's easy to do. I just check my speed more. There may be an Android/iOS app for this sorta thing, but really I don't know. I don't see this as a problem myself.

I know what you mean. The way to stop yourself is have the MPG always visible and try to relax as you drive. Let the other guy take the lead and you'll pass him at the pump!

If you are having fun its probably not fuel efficient, from the hypermilers handbook.

There is no such thing as a stupid question

I have a Nissan Pathfinder rental right now while my Escape is in the shop. I'm naturally a defensive driver, but this Pathfinder is so smooth, I look down and I'm easily at 80 MPH. I think it's just learning the vehicle, or learning to look down more often. I can tell how fast I'm going in my Escape by listening to it, I just haven't had this Pathfinder long enough to know the signs of speeding.

Hmmm ... I have no problem using cruise on crooked, hilly roads I know. If in doubt, you can always use the Can/Res button at will.

Same here. And in a pinch, the brake or a downshift will cancel it and can still be resumed.

as mentioned...iphone app...called "speed alert" is one, I think there a several others that offer this feature too. This one happens to be free, as are some of the others.

I consider cruise control almost a game of chicken with yourself on a twisty road...do you have the balls to stay with it or will you chicken out and press the brake...
