Just 3,967 units this month. Lowest total in several months I think.
http://media.ford.com/images/10031/Sept11sales.pdf Focus did pretty bad too. Maybe Sept. was a bad sales month in general, the overall industry analysis isn't out yet.

Trucks and SUVs are sold more in the fall, according to a report on NPR this morning too. I think 3.5k is about what we've been at for other low months.

I wonder if some of the slow sales could have been due to the early changeover to the 2012 model? But then last September wasn't very good for the Fiesta either so perhaps it's just not a good month for passenger car sales.

I'm currently on vacation in Indonesia, on the island of Bali. Just about everything that drives here are Japanese cars: Toyota (very popular with the taxis), Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Daihatsu and the odd Kia. I've even spotted a Geely taxi. There is the odd Bimmer or Merc and I once saw a Smart.
Among these I counted a few non-Japanese and non-luxury cars and guess what? They were Fiestas and Ford Escapes and Everests (?!). Oh, and the local police drive Focus Mk3 sedans. ![]() A Thai Fiesta S ![]() ... with parking sensors ![]() ... and an automatic gearbox ![]() Yes, a hard to the touch dashboard. The Ford Everest, also from Thailand. Based on the Thai Ford Ranger. ![]() ![]()

Living the hard life it sounds like.
Thank you for the pics of the exotic Fiesta/Fords.

I think that perhaps another factor is that gas prices are down, we're not watching and worrying about crude continuing a trend past $100 a barrel as we were through the spring and summer, at least for this part of the fuel cost cycle.
It will be interesting to watch. Jon |

The Focus is having a parts shortage. The U.S. supplier of a dash board part is having a production problem. Aren't shipping what Ford needs. The Fiesta, one can only guess. My guess is gas has been dropping and the Focus is out, be it in limited numbers, still cuts into sales. If I was buying a car today, the Focus would get considered and even look at the Fusion.
