Default YIKES.......

Who thinks $1056 to install the standard Ford Racing suspension M-FR3-FA and the remote start kit is a might expensive. I just got a call from the dealer (I had them install it mostly because it didn't seem like a big deal as far as the suspension and while I probably could have handled the remote start too, I didn't want any warranty issues.) But I am shocked at the labor cost (I had already paid for the parts.) They claim 8 hours to do the remote start and like 6 for the suspension including the realignment. If I had thought it would be that much I would have never even ordered the parts in the first place...once I had them it seem a waste to not install but wow....That suspension better be awesome and look even better and I'll have to remote start everyday just because I can.

Maybe Tousley Ford can chime in but that doesn't sound right to me especially 8hrs for the remote start.

Heiser Ford-Glendale WI: $395.00 for FR3 install/alignment. Make sure you get your original suspension bits back so you have them for later use!

The dealer is always the most expensive route -- namely because you're paying their hourly labour rate times (x) the usual "book" time for a specific procedure.

The 6-hour window to install a suspension sounds about right.

An independent shop might be cheaper. Some dealers might have a "performance" side to them i.e. if they sell and install Ford Racing parts. They may be able to do it cheaper since the installation of non-OEM parts (i.e. FRPP) isn't considered "Ford" work.

I just got an after-market remote put in for $325 including 8% sales tax. It allows starting and stopping the car remotely which I **think** is bi-directional remote. Compare that cost with what your dealer is charging you.

My remote was 6-8 hours. They tested it several times plus insured everything else worked correctly.. This was NOT a dealer, but a detailing (Meguiers certified!!) and mod shop in the area.

See my post below ... 6-8 is about right because it should get tested several times including cold start, etc.

I had asked Steve from Tousley how much it would cost to have the FRPP suspension kit installed and this was his reply:

"Just got the labor quote back and it's quite reasonable, should be in the $200.00 range to install the suspension.

If you want to do it let me know and I'll get you in contact with the right advisor.

-Steve"

that's quite high. take it to another shop. having it installed at a ford dealer has jack to do with warranty.

Ha ha! Mine was 1400+ or -. At a ford dealer that has a performance part division(svt/cobra). They quoted me 800 last year(just instal + alignment). When I brought that up he said 'that was what ford charged last year, it's a new billing code this year'. So, most dealers will charge by the book, at least in Canada. I didn't shop around, so my fault, but I've spent more for less smile factor!

I used to swap the suspension on my ZX2SR from sumer to winter and back.
Without being in any hurry it would take me about 6 hrs including realignment.
