Something I noticed today while browsing the ford accessories website:
accessories.ford.com/armrest-console-fiesta.html If you check the compatible vehicles listing, it lists the 2012. This means that either: a) the website is wrong (not terribly surprising) b) the 2012 default armrest is removable, and you can still add a console armrest (boomerang or polytech) I find it hard to believe that the 2012 armrest is wholly unremovable, so I'm willing to bet that the website is correct and it's just a case of figuring out how to get it off to add on the console armrest. OTOH...wouldn't surprise me if the website was wrong. Just something to think about for anyone with a 2012 who wants an armrest. Try ordering it and if it won't install, just send it back.

If mine was here, I would but since it ain't I can't! <chuckle>
Actually that's pretty interesting ... I really might just try it unless someone beats me to it.

Link for good luck: Armrest by Polytech FOHA | Customize Ford Armrest by Polytech FOHA | The Official Site for Ford Custom Accessories (or perhaps just convenience).
1. Possible. It's been known to happen! 2. All parts of the car are removable in some way. (:

The parts diagram for the '12 seat shows that there is a bracket with a post bolted to the driver's upper seats frame that holds the armrest on.
My car seems to still be a ways from being built for some reason but as soon as it gets here I will either be installing the accessory armrest along with it or removing the seat mounted one altogether. Removing the seat mounted one will leave a hole in the side so I may end up just finding a '11 drivers seat and swapping the whole thing or just getting a cover from the '11 seat without the hole. Also, just to show that the accessories site is not by itself giving out wrong information, the accessory armrest shows a '12 application in the Ford partbook as well. |

I just got my 2012 yesterday. I wasn't expecting the arm rest built into the seat because the dealer said they didn't come with an armrest.
The armrest has a zipper to pull off the cover and a bolt to hold it on. I unbolted it but unfortunately it mounts to large metal shaft that comes out too far to install any armrest and I couldn't find a way to remove the pin without pulling the seat cover off somehow. I ordered the boomerang armrest in advance, guess I need to send it back. To bad because the built-in armrest is about 2 inches too narrow and my elbow won't even rest on it. |

Check with Boomerang and see if they have come up with a way to remove the factory armrest. I'm sure they'd rather you be happy with theirs than disappointed with the one from Ford. Hopefully they've realized this is an issue and have or are working on a solution for it.

There is another thread in here about this but here goes ...
2012 "S" models do NOT have an armrest. Ford or Boomerang units will fit fine. All 2011 models do not have an armrest. For 2012, any non-"S" Fiesta has a drivers side armrest and as noted we need some idea of how to get rid of it in order to use the Ford or Boomerang units instead.

Hack Saw?
![]() ![]() Actually that's not so far fetched. Once you have the center console arm rest I doubt you would ever want to change it. Although this goes against my matra of always trying to put back any change I might make! I usually have this thought with most any project I take on.

Just posted this in another thread too...
For anyone with the Polytec Armrest: Does it flip up between the seats or is it locked in (aside from the lid flipping up, of course)? And, any new ideas (aside from the one's from December) on how to remove the existing tiny driver's armrest on my 2012 without taking the seat apart (and then what to do with the hole in the fabric)? Thanks! |
