Default Bad experience!

So anyone who read my post a while back knows that I've been running an odd size tire on the back due to not being able to afford a new one.

So my car went in yesterday to get its 7000 km service at our local dealer. I dropped the car off and a few hours later they dropped off my car at the pharmacy where I work.*

When I got off work I saw what they had done. When they rotated the tires, they put the odd size one on the front right, and if you have any automotive knowledge, you would know that this is incredibly hard on the driving axle and can cause major damage. A co worker helped me change it back to the way it was before.

So today I went into the dealer, frustrated. I went to talk to an aunt of mine who is the business manager, explained to her the situation and she wasn't pleased. She called the service manager over and said they should know better, and to reprimand the person who rotated the tires.*

They told me for my trouble that they would order me a brand new Hankook Optimo to replace the damaged one for free, and that they were going to need my car back because one of the shocks was leaking. They also ordered a new power window motor to replace my squeaky one.*

I left pretty happy at how the situation was dealt with.*

Well, at least they hooked you up with a new tire...but yeah, depending how odd the tire size was, that could've caused some bad damage.

Well at least it's supposedly resolved. Save your rating till after everything's done, after dealing with my dealer with my window stripping I wasn't as happy with them as when I bought the car. But in the end it all worked out.

[Devils advocate] Did you inform them of the mis-sized tire or did you expect them to expect that you were ghettoizing a brand new car?[/Devils advocate]

You don't know bad service until you have a VW !!!
At least yours got resolved and they were willing to work with you.

On three seperate occasions, and two different dealers. They're mistakes cost me a combined $1200.00 !!!

I have aftermarket security on my car and there is a special way to start it. I told the dealer and they forgot, so fiddled with my starter and in the process, broke it... I couldn't prove it was them however, even though they told me they played with it for an hour trying to start it. VW Canada also said I had no case/proof it was them and that the starter wasn't dying already..I was there for an oil change.

Replaced the clutch and the lines weren't connected properly, broke down and had to pay for a $200 dollar tow back for them to fix it. I was out the money for the tow !!!

Got an oil change and the guy didn't out my coolant line back where it's supposed to go. Fan ate through it and of course I was in the middle of nowhere. Again. a $150 tow (nevermind the $120 hose I had to replace). Argued with them for three days, but that "never happens". VW Canada again said I had no proof it was their fault.

This is why I'm leaving VW, I've only had good experiences with my old Focus and the dealerships I've been too.

I will NEVER buy another VW/Audi again in my life. No matter how much I actually like their cars....

NEVER !!!!

Gone are the days of the good ole VW. They are riding on past laurels. They are expensive and do not provide customer friendly service. People who buy VW's are just acting smug and do not know economy of cars. Sorry if I offended anyone.

To be fair the tech probably didn't even notice the tire size difference, it would have had to be INCREDIBLY obvious before they would even consider looking at the tire sizes, paerticularly on a nearly new car.

I also kind of wonder how much difference it would make to the car physically to have mismatched tires up front.

The car has an open diff which means the wheels can turn at different speeds quite easily and without issues.

The only real concern I could see would be in very poor weather conditions and the difference in grip between the two tires but again since it is an open diff it's desiged to allow the wheels to spin at different speeds.

Glad to hear they resolved the issue though.

Over the miles a difference in the tire diameter can put extra wear on the spider (differential) gears.
I have seen cars running around with the mini-spare on for who knows how long.

Did you inform the service adviser about the tire difference ? If not, it was not entirely their fault.
How much differnce is size was the tire ? Sometimes a differnce in size can still have the same diameter.
Numbers please.

If you didn't inform them when you brought the car in of your odd size tire, I don't know that you can blame the poor guy that rotated your tires for you.

Plus me thinks this had a lot to do with getting him satisfied..."I went to talk to an aunt of mine who is the business manager". Alway good to have an inside contact.
