Default Whatta BEAST Phantom is!

My son was heading out to visit a friend. Our parking area has a particularly nasty downslope that currently is nearly all ice under slick snow (yeah, it's snowing here - AGAIN!).

He took it just a bit wide as he backed out of the spot Phantom is parked in ... and hit the slick area - promptly sliding into a softer area that has the plowed snow ... and got stuck. Trying to back out of this place is uphill and currently totally iced over.

Being somewhat inexperienced with rocking the car, he was sort of in a jam. Dear ole Dad (me) hoofs it out and gets him in the shotgun seat. Then I proceed to introduce him to the theory of rocking oneself out of jams.

One short burst in reverse until I felt things start slipping followed by a quick slam into L and power through onto the driveway. One try and the car is in the open!

Mind you ... TC cannot be shut off as Phantom is a 2011 model. No TC light ever came on ... or if it did I never noticed it. And I can tell you there was some front end slippage powering forward.

I just might keep that car around for a bit longer! <chuckle> Mebbe even put some gas in it Saturday ... it'll need it by then.

Yeah, I was really surprised by how sure-footed my Fiesta is. Drives and handles in the snow much better than my Jeep Liberty. 'Course, the Jeep has crappy tires on it, but still. I'll be driving the Fiesta in the snow for sure, unless we get some deep stuff. Then I'll pull out the Jeep.

Really. My car performs great in the snow, but my TC light comes on every time I start off. I also have the 5 speed mind you.

Just to clarify not all 2011 models are incapable of turning TC off. I have a 2011 that I have no problem turning it off...

... and I'll never have to living in Florida

Default Uhhh, yeah ... right!

apple - you're just too darned cocky. We need to send some Winter lovin' your way. Remember, in 1977 Miami got snow - I was there ... it could happen to you.

Cherri had her share of TC and ABS action this morning. At 530, I was slip/sliding my way through city streets to get to work. Once out of the city things are fine ... city employees need to learn the proper way to plow.

That just tells you the wheels are slipping a little.
If it gets too bad, try starting in second gear. A common thing back in the day.

Very late production 2011 models had the option. I would say 80% of 2011 models do not.

Late 2011 models have it, and 2012s. I think DBS' guess of 80% of 2011 models not having the capability is probably accurate. It's in the console menu. My car built September 2010 cannot turn off traction control. Telero's was built in January or February 2011 and can turn it off.
