Also IIRC one of the features that came standard on the Jeep was some special cabin filter/filtration system.

Better filtration systems do help by keeping out dust and debris, you still have issues with heat and moisture but again some are better than others.

Some Lincolns used to have a system that ran the fan motor for several minutes after the car was shut off to help dry out the A/C evaporator to help prevent these issues.

I'd imagine some cars still use systems like that.
