I did notice an RCA cable input in the center console, so I guess you can watch movies on it. Not that I would watch a movie in my car, but it's an option.
The system does have a steep learning curve. But once you get it, it's much easier. The Explorer and Edge take it one step further and add 2 more screens in the instrument cluster. 1 for infotainment, and one for driving information.

Well I figure that if I had taken one with sync I could have gotten it without the wait and enjoyed an extra $500 discount which would have covered the cost. Like you, I have no real need for the sync but the extra usb might come in handy to charge stuff. Hindsight is always great, but futile.

They do?? Motor Trend and Consumer Report both criticized Ford about the complications of SYNC. Also, (Can't remember which magazine!) for not being able to turn off Traction Control on all USA marketed Fiesta's.

I don't. It just adds for more crap to not work right!

Give me a crank window stick shift.... It'll last forever.

All those tech related problems are avoided that way.

Correction - should read "Also, for not being able to turn off Traction Control on EARLY 2011 marketed Fiesta's." The Magazine road test was done early in the introduction of the Fiesta. Traction control can now be turned off on later models. why hasn't Ford recalled the early models to correct this problem? I already had to hire someone to dig it out of the snow. I have a dual heart device and can't shovel snow.

Just remember that some of those technologies seem to have resulted from our own personal habits. I doubt Ford (and Microsoft) would have dove into SYNC if we didn't use our cell phones while driving, or start wiring up our cars to take advantage of an iPod/mp3 player or USB stick for songs.

If it makes our lives easier, there are folks who say that is well worth any future related tech problems. Instant gratification.

It also doesn't help that tablets and smartphones are hot items (*cough* iPads, iPhones, Android smartphones, BlackBerry, etc.), as well as gaming consoles, Netflix, and things like flat-panel televisions. If people didn't love (or become addicted to) tech, we wouldn't be buying (or wanting) these items. As a collective, we kinda dug ourselves into this mess.

Let's keep this thread on the topic of MyFord Touch.

It's been said that Fiestas cannot be equipped with the MyFord Touch system available in Fords more upmarket products.

MyFord Touch only handles the infotainment - climate control, telephone, Wi-Fi, SYNC, media, and navigation, and it's the 8-inch, LCD screen that's smack-dab in the middle of the dash of a new Focus, Explorer, Edge, and other new Fords and Lincolns.

MyFord Touch is an extension of the "MyFord" (branded) system. MyFord allows drivers to get some additional features and information from the car through the 4.2-inch LCD screen in the middle of the gauges.

In the case of the Focus, traction control and headlamp delay settings can be adjusted through MyFord.

Realistically, if the Fiesta were to inherit the MyFord systems, an SE would have the MyFord with SYNC, and the SEL/SES would have at least MyFord with SYNC and possibly MyFord Touch. I wouldn't be surprised if it will be added for the 2013 model year.
