I noticed the Versa resemblance too after a while. The cars I draw tend to look like mild variations on current production models. I think that qualifies me to be a designer at an upstart Chinese car company.

If its anything typical GM which that it isn't Camaro or Vette related in the badge really expect a good high volume of these things made and that the badge will say Aveo on it, expect a cheap price tag as well. Not to mention a really nasty plastic interior, hmmm a recipe for a failure in the making.

Ha, I thought the same thing before I scrolled down to see your comments.
I think sales of the FI Aveo will be watched closely by Ford. For me, I have zero interest in the Aveo. For one, it is a GM car and I am not interested in buying a car from a company that uses tax payer dollars to stay afloat and seems to be lacking direction from management. Second, the Aveo has no history and no connection to motorsports. Two things that Fiesta has. Lastly, the Fiesta has the kinetic design that I love so much. I would bet the next Aveo will be a good car, but it just is not for me. Actually, there are very few cars that actually interest me right now.

There are now a few pics floating around:
The Chevy Aveo RS Concept Is Surprisingly Hot I'd say Ford doesn't have much to worry about. It looks very chunky from the front. The slope of the roof and hatch at the back is sorta cool though. But the interior has a huge problem. It looks like someone jammed in a smartphone next to the tach. This is just a concept and probably the only version of the new Aveo we'll see at Detroit. Look for more info at midnight. |

Isn't the Aveo made by Daewoo? The only thing Chevy about it is the "Chevy" badge....

Thats typical GM though. Fancy Schmancy exterior that really turns the eyes. The interior is god awful, cheap, plastic and breaks real easy. Most of my family drives GM and its just the same with every car.

Well that's not entirely the case any more. The Malibu, CTS, Equinox, and LaCrosse among other new GM cars all have really nice interiors, but there are still plenty of less-than-stellar older designs with very plasticky cabins. The new Aveo's cabin looks class competitive compared to the Fit, Versa, Accent etc. It's just that next to the Fiesta, which has such a far superior interior to anything else in the segment, design- and materials-wise, it's left behind.

Most of what we see in that Aveo won't make it to the production line with how GM is running right now. Also the Spark is coming as well which looks eerily like the Aveo RS. I don't see much of a market for this car. Except for a few hipster, beanie cap wearing kids who think a wing and a paint job gives their car 400 hp.
