I like it. It will be interesting to see how its sales will stack up against the competition. It will have the least horsepower in its class.

Yes it does, and I like what it says....

The weight advantage is much to my liking!

The fact that you can get this modern excellent handling low cost product that has world class safety to boot makes it a winner IMO...This car weighs LESS than my 1996 VW Golf GL that is about the same size! Has MORE content, more performance, much better handling...and the same price as my Golf did when it was new!!!!! Quite an accomplishment....

I always factor in the weight issue at the top of my list because the bottom line is that less weight makes for a much more nimble handling car and that in turn translates into more fun as well.!

Less weight can also translate to more road noise, as my Yaris vividly illustrates. It only weighs 2300 lbs., but it's easily the noisiest car I've ever owned. The lack of sound deadening has taken it's toll.

Do you have the Yaris hatch or sedan? In the press release from Ford about the Fiesta being the quietest car in it's class, it actually showed the Yaris as only being slightly louder than the Fiesta. I'm betting that was the sedan though because they tend to be quieter than hatches.

My Yaris is the hatchback. On certain road surfaces, the road noise is so loud, you'd think my tires were BFG Mud Terrains . Other than the noise & an awkward seating position, the Yaris is a nice little car. But not nearly as nice as I expect the Fiesta to be.

I bet the Fiesta is still better to drive Plus it gets notably better gas mileage than the 2, so it looks like Mazda didn't put the lighter weight to much use.

Everyone should look up the "Mazda 2evil".

if they made a mazdaspeed version that looked ANYTHING like that I would be much more inclined to considering the 2... if it was also turbo charged.

Could be true...The proof will be in the test drives!

For anyone that's interested a friend of mine is the "Mazda2 Lifestyle Drive Experience" in Montreal this weekend and is blogging his impressions. You can see his blog at johnkimballracing.com

Default Looks

My problem with this Mazda and all Mazdas is the front looks like a smile.

The engine is smaller, less power, and for you automatic fans, it's only a four speed, Fiestas 6 speed is better and more advanced. Sure I'll look at one, I hope mine will have arrived buy the time the Mazda gets here.
