Next Generation Hyundai Accent

Autoblog tracked down the next Hyundai Accent in the US yesterday:

Sure enough, they thought it was a Fiesta at first.

The exterior styling is a little iffy (too small wheels or too narrow track on this example), but the interior looks very promising.

Plus there are rumors of 140 hp and it appears to have rear-disc brakes.

If this all comes to pass and they fix the wheels this could be very tough competition for the Fiesta.

Can't tell much anything form those photos. It does have a similar profile to the Fiesta sedan. Hp figures don't matter to me. As for the rear discs, the Fiesta having drums in the rear was a huge plus for me. After owning my Protege5 with rear discs, I never want rear discs again. A freaking nightmare.

I forgot about this, but the new Accent has already been caught completely uncovered:

The front of the uncovered car doesn't appear to match the front of the camo'd prototype from what I can tell, but that could just be regional differences (the uncovered car is either Chinese- or Korean-spec)

The USDM version will be close but not completely like that.

This new Accent looks really big. I hope it isn't. It's ashame that every successor model has to get bigger, heavier and more expensive...I'm tired of this!

The styling is nice though. It looks more like a compact car than a subcompact to me.

Looks pretty good for this class of car. It's a little to "fancy" for my tastes. Hope they make a HB

That was my thought as well. A mini econo priced luxury car is not my cup of tea either. I have always liked the "German" bauhaus" theory when it comes to cars.
