I've always wondered exactly what it is that makes these guys so called 'Experts'? What? A journalism degree and an interest in cars? I write fairly well, and love cars, too....where do I sign up?
It's funny to me that otherwise independent, intelligent people would pick up a car mag written by people who have very high opinions of themselves and confuse that with actual objectivity..or worse, 'Expertise'....taste and preference are by definition totally subjective, and based on intangibles. To somehow believe that these guys have the inside scoop on the quality of these cars based on some narrow comparison or criteria is laughable.
I drove everything out there in the price point, and in the end felt totally comfortable with my decision, even if there were certain things that others might have done 'better'...the whole is sometimes greater than the sum of it's parts...regardless of what the numbers mean or the ego of the people quoting them.
