Default HOLY SH!... New Accent is HOT...!!!

The girlfriend is shopping for a New Elantra, so we went to the dealership today. The New Accent is *****' HOT. It's very "meh" in pictures, but the design language really pops in person. The interior is AMAZING - roof liner is this cross weave (no mouse fur!) that you usually see on more expensive cars... excellent tactile feel switchgear, awesome instrument lighting, perfect amount of chrome in the interior, sunglasses holder (this is huge), cloth seats feel dare I say luxurious (Fiesta has sandpaper cloth) and the plastics remind me of the last generation Volkswagens (hardish, but high quality). Seatbacks have plastic shells which makes it look very clean and protects against cuffs/wrinkles.

Test drove it, too. Engine is silky smooth and very refined! Absorbs bumps very nicely and the test drive route didn't allow for too much spirited driving. Plus the sales guy was in the backseat.

I had a Neon SRT4 over 95 on a test drive. What is he going to do? No you can't buy it? I did a 0-30 foot to the floor on a VW once too. Salesperson said, "quick isn't it?" I said no, it was slower than I was used too! I also made a saleperson buckle up too.

When you test drive a car, plan out a route that has all kinds of driving conditions. A salesperson had me going down a new blacktop road that was 45mph. I said of course it rides quiet and smooth, and then preceded to go on bad roads. Didn't buy a car from him.

It's our money, test it like you drive it, if they don't like it, that is there problem. They want to sell a car. It would be fun to see what you could get away with before they take the keys away form you.

Also about the Accent, they had a Fiesta for inspiration for the styling. If I had to buy a car today, sure I would look at one. Since I haven't driven one or priced on I can't say what I would buy. Considering how Ford has treated me through the reservation, ordering and fixes, I would go out of my way to not buy a Ford.
BondiBlue likes this.

I've only sat in the Accent so far, I thought the interior was a half-step between the old accent and the Fiesta. It still has some of the old cheap Korean material mixed in with high quality new stuff. I'm just amazed at how close they got on the styling, though. They have a color called Marathon Blue that is just like Blue Flame. I'm waiting for an opportunity to park my Fiesta next to one of those and take a picture and see if anyone can tell the difference. 2012 Hyundai Accent - Hyundai of Everett, Everett, WA

I agree with Corvair that if I had the chance to do it all over gain, I might be swayed towards the Hyundai juts because of Ford's customer service issues.

PowerShift,

I'm shocked. I consider myself an "interior slut" and I found the Accent's interior to be a step or two above the Fiesta's... if you take out the squishy dash and arm area material in the Fiesta, the rest of it quickly becomes cheap. The Accent has chrome door handles (sweet touch for this class).

Also, there's only so many ways you can design an electric blue color... even my Yaris is just a darker version of Blue Flame...

As for the styling, it looks that way IN PICTURES, but in person, it's got its own look. It's kind of like the Insight and Prius, same shape... but you'd never confuse one with the other.

The bronze color in the Accent is ****** GORGEOUS.

Well, to be honest, that's pretty inconsiderate of you... I wouldn't jeopardize a stranger's life like that. I'll don't mind going crazy, but it's not gonna be with a salesman who has no idea that I'm gonna go nuts.

Haha. Perhaps. Maybe after 2 years I will trade in the Yaris.

I'm with Corvair. I test drove a blue flame auto before ordering my green 5 speed. I hammered on that thing in "L" and also took it into an empty parking lot and slalomed the **** out of that little beast. On a test drive I want to see what the vehicle is capable of, not to pussyfoot around and not know what I'm getting myself into. I actually impressed the salesman who was unaware of how well these little cars performed.

We were a straight rual road, wide shoulders, no traffic, he said I should see what it had. I had no idea that I was going that fast. 95 MPH is hardly unsafe under those conditions.

I wish I could have test drove it when it was 100 degrees, minus 30 degrees, one inch of snow, ten inches of snow, you know, real world conditions. Also a panic stop form 75 to zero.
