Post Fswerks Air Intake- any problems? Discussion Plzz!!!

Hey everyone! I'm very new to this so I do hope I get some good feedback.

Ok so I bought and installed the new fswerks cai and I'm a little concerned about some things with my car now. My first concern is that after installing the air intake, I noticed that the "mpg" change a lot more as Im driving through the town or on the highway. The number was somewhere around 28.4-28.9. I am not complaining but even when I'm going 50mph my mpg doesn't really go up to a good number. Has anyone had any problems?

My other concern is should I buy the filter wrap thing for it so water won't get through the air intake??

On the other side, I have noticed a good change in the throttle response with the new cai installed. It definitely helps the engine breath easier.

The problem with your mpg is after you install a aftermarket intake The computer has to relearn and compensate for added air flow so it will take it a few days before that will happen. Then when you go fill up reset the mpg gage and you should be good to go.

The FSwerks cai is high mounted and the filter is at approx. the same location as the oem filter was, so I wouldn't worry too much about water. If it gives you peace of mind, then put a hydroshield on it.

As for the mpg drop, you sure you're not flooring it more often to listen to the sweet noises?

thank you guys for the helpful stuff! today as i was driving to work it was at 27.7 which is scary because i know it can do better than that!

i wonder if i went to autozone and bought a k&n 3 inch filter to put on instead of the filter it came with. maybe it would work out better?

I have seen the exhaust from fswerks off youtube but honestly i dont think im going to mess with my exhaust because it will sound bad almost like a little honda "rice caker" (in other words... really bad. lol)

im new to this so i might post pics of my car on this forum or on another to let you guys see what my car looks like

just don't drive through big puddles.

paper filters will always be better at keeping the water out. The stock airbox design was pretty good for puddles too but unless you have one of those dinky injen ones that reach under the car you shouldn't have a problem

1) You said at 50 your mpg was not as high as you would like. Are you using a scan gauge or some other instant readout? The gauge cluster readout is only an average. Like others have mentioned make sure to give time for the PCM to adjust.

2) You probably will pull that intake code. It took over 1,000mi but sure enough it came on for me.

3) I would not advise putting a K&N filter on your FSWerks intake. Going paper filter over foam will most likely not increase your mpg. Also IGT filters are supposed to be higher quality, and FSWerks makes a point that they use better filters than the competition.

1) i forgot to mention that i was just going off my gauge in my dashboard. Im not using a reader or anything. i knew that the gauge is just a estimate so ya i will give it a few more days but its already been at least like 4 days.

2) will my check engine light come on? i hope it doesnt because its a pain in the butt to take time and leave the battery not connected for a few minutes! lol (i can just unconnect the negative side to my battery if my check engine light comes on right?)

3) ok, i was thinking that its not best because i would have to find a filter that would the fswerks system. I just never had a foam filter before and not sure on how to clean them.

*** How do you post pics of your car on here?? Im wanting you guys to see my car!**

Yep it'll be a check engine light. Not sure about the battery thing.
You should have cleaning instructions that came with the intake but here's a link just in case: http://www.fswerks.com/cleaning-maxogen.pdf
