Default Best intake?

Any recommendations for a CAI that sounds nice and has minimal risk of puddle slurping? I'm used to mustangs and the billions of aftermarket parts all clumped together on mustang-specific websites. Finding parts for these cars sucks!

For puddle resistance, check out the Boeschbuilt cai(my favorite), Steeda has one, and FSwerks, as well K&N has a new one out that is similar to the FSwerks cai(but more $). If you do a search on here for each(except the K&N one, which is different than the one that'll come up) you'll find tons of info and reviews. The sponsor links will also give some results.

Is the boeschbuilt one carb compliant?? And I know FSWerks is in SoCal, but is there intake carb compliant as well?? I really like the steeda intake, but it doesn't pass visual inspection... May just keep factory airbox and switch it back when it's time for smog...

The only true cai is the injen that I know of. The others mentions above are short ram intakes or variances of one (some use the oem ducting to direct cold air but it's not true like the injen

Cai are easy to suck water with however bypass valves help with this (a filter that connects between the pipes and allows air flow if the main filter suddenly looses flow (from ater suckage).

There's pros and cons to each style of intake.

I for now have a drop in k&n that I'm happy with.

There is no CARB compliant cai for the fiesta as of yet. stupid Carb!

This may end up being the one that gets carb first...

another vote for the Boesch Built intake.

Performance wise, I am willing to bet all the intakes are within 1 or 2 hp of each other, all produce about the same sound, and most are well clear of any puddles. An open element filter without a heat shield in a short ram application is the worst intake since it sucks in hot engine compartment air, but is far away from puddles. A long tube, cold air intake, is great for getting the coolest air, but has the lowest filter placement. The Steeda, Boesch, and FSWerks place the filter in the stock location and cover with shielding. The Boesch uses a tube to connect the filter box to the bumper cover using the stock scoop, which keeps a constant supply of fresh air. The Boesch and Steeda intakes can be updated to use the Steeda intake tube that connects the filter and the throttle body.

In the past I have used short ram, long CAI, and drop-in filters in previous cars. The Boesch intake is the one that has given me the best performance with the less hassle. The short rams had horrible response in warm weather, the long tube CAI would get packed with snow and had multiple cone strikes while autocrossing. The drop-in filter made no noticable performance gains, but had zero hassle. The Boesh has good performance, great sound, and no hassles. Installation takes about 15 minutes, which is probably about the exact same as the Steeda and FSWerks given their designs.

AEM also makes a cold air intake for the Fiesta that is similar to the injen where it places the filter inside the front fascia.
look them up on Injen - Home - Performance Air Intake Systems, Exhaust Systems, Turbo Components, and Air Filters for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, ATV's, Boats, and more! and Official AEM Air Induction Systems and Performance Electronics Site - The AEM Home Page

if you hit a cone with the injen cold air intake while autocrossing your Fiesta... you're doing it wrong (: so far no snow has gotten up in there either. I also have a hydroshield on mine.
