Bit the bullet and scheduled a dealership appointment... They are closed weekends so should have an update on the timeframe on Monday.

I 'should be under warranty', lord knows I paid enough extra fees and stuff and got ramrodded pretty hard from those fees when I bought the vehicle - so I am hoping all additional fees/costs will be covered under warranty but this is the first vehicle ive owned with any warranty at all so I don't know how it will go

Scheduled it for this Wednesday... Guess I'll know by then.. sucks a bit because the weather will be much nicer and the sound will be harder to reproduce I fear, but about time I get in there and get my tire pressure light looked at as well as this stupid sound...

They are the main two things that I are causing grief for me with the vehicle - and I think my mileage is suffering due the sound - If it is the a transmission issue. I don't drive with a lead foot but am mostly stop and go traffic but I should be getting higher then low 20 miles per gallon :X /shrug

Bumping this.
I've got this same problem.
Seems to happen to me when my car is staying steady anywhere from 30-55mph.

The noise is SO annoying. My car was so quiet for the first few months I had it and it's been making this noise for quite a while now. At first I thought I was crazy but I guess not after reading this thread.

Anyone know what the "official" diagnosis is? Definitely transmission?
I want to take care of this while I still can.

I've got the same issue here. I'll listen more closely to the audio that the OP posted and see if it's exactly the same. This has me worried as well....I dread going to my dealer. It's more of a hassle trying to describe it to them and getting it fixed. Like the TSB for the rear fluid nozzle leaking. Over a year and they still haven't done it.

YuP same noise for me too. Although shifting to neutral does not help the situation at all. About 20mph 30kmh is when it stops. That's a gear change too.

Well finally got around to taking the car to the dealer. I suppose it was put off because the noise was fairly sporadic. Lately it has been happening more and more so it finally went in.
They are going to be replacing the transmission.

Update on my end in case those were wondering from my earlier post.

Never got the noise looked and only had them do an oil change and fix TPMS Light issue, but hearing continued transmissions being replaced definetly has me concerned...

Thats 2 confirmed transmissions replaced and 1 in the process of being replaced. With about 11 people that have posted this 'engine gear lash' noise.

Does anyone know of a specific TSB to quote when going to a dealer?

I better get mine into a dealer and get it looked at - Damn me for being lazy! :P

**UPDATE**
Just scheduled an appointment. Maybe next week on thursday or friday I will take it in.. then the dance begins to see if it gets looked at

Hi ohkkrist & deadlast,

My name is Noemi and I'm Ford's residential help on the forum. Send me a PM with the VIN, current mileage as well as your personal and contact info. I'll have a Customer Service Manager provide some assistance. At the same time call the local Ford dealer and set up an appointment. The CSM will contact both you and the dealer to make sure the concern is addressed.

Hey zippy88,

Great first step. You can also send me a PM with the above requested info - VIN, current mileage, personal and dealer contact info. I'll request assistance from the Customer Service Manage in your area.

Thanks Noemi,

I'm in Canada so I don't think you are able to assist me, but it's great that Ford has someone watching these forums.

The Fiesta is still at the dealership. The new transmission was late getting to the dealer on Monday so they still have the car, at least until tomorrow.

I have this same exact issue..

And recently occasionally my speaker on my drivers side would sounds like it's blown but then it goes away later on..

Another thread spoke of that issue and they're dating something is loose.

It sounds like both these issues are loose parts ):

Hi daramikaze,

Have you had the Fiesta checked by a dealer? If you have and need further assistance from the Customer Service Manager in your area, send a PM with the VIN, current mileage as well as your personal and dealer contact info.

Take care all!

Noemi
