Default Noise from left front side.

We are a couple of months into our new SES and I have noticed a noise from the left font side when the car is moving. It's almost like a wind noise but sometime sound like a scraping noise. It's seem to do it more when the car is cold and the weather is cold.

I have looked and was unable to see anything (but I'm not sure what to look for)

Not sure if it's from the engine bay or the wheel arch area.

Any ideas?

Do you have any accumulated snow/ice on the "arm" of the outside mirror? I've notice when my car has snow there, the wind blowing over it makes a similar noise to what you describe. Once the snow is melted, no more noise.

Just a thought.

Hi raymate,

My name is Deysha from Ford Customer Service. I recommend you bring your vehicle in to your Ford dealership and get your vehicle diagnosed. Then, please contact Ford of Canada at 800-565-3673. They can get these concerns documented and help you in any way they can. If you have any other questions or further issues, please do not hesitate to message me.

Can you describe the sound a little better? high pitch or low pitch? thump, clunk, click, buzz.....? change w/ speed? power on or off? The better you can define it the better your chances of a dealership identifying it.

I shall try and listen again tomorrow to give a better description, if I can I might try and record it and post a link.

It's more a low pitch sound and it seems to be audible above 40k it does sound like wind noise.

I will see if it's present when the power is applied or not.

Not a thumping noise, more like a scraping. Again I shall try and see if it changes at different speeds.

We have only has the car for a short time then we had snow tires put on, I'm sure the noise was not present with the stock wheels. But when we had the stock wheels on it was much warmer I noticed it when the weather changed. So what I'm trying to say I can not be sure if it was after the snow wheels have been put on.

Snow tires are noisy in themselves. Let's hope it's just the tires complaining about winter.

Another update:

Weather has been bad snow so been unable to record the noise.

But I looked today and noticed that inside the air intake grill on the left and right hand side is a large piece of black plastic that seems not to connected to anything it's just in there loose. I wondering if it is indeed moving with the air rushing in.

I will take a picture tomorrow.

PICS: should the is part be loose?

can someone check on there fiesta please.

Pretty sure this is nothing more than a basic air deflector.
