Other than the occasional confused which-gear-to-choose gear change, my PS is OK but its only 2,700KM.
I been driving aggressively on the throttle pedal and indeed, this car is adaptive. Now I got to feather push the throttle or it will shift down often too fast. D setting.15-20km /H at traffic jam with frequent stop, the PS still not nice. Above 30KM/H , its great. D setting. At speed where I need to kick down and PS needing to drop two gears or more, its slow response naturally due to the double clutch it uses. Cant do as fast as manual for this case. D setting with overdrive on. Climbing lousy small car park with high gradient and narrow sharp turn, even in L setting....not nice. PS gear change mapping doesn't fit this profile well, more so when you need to stop at the peak of the climb to see other cars but car is not 100% dead stop. Overall, its OK. ![]() But, never again I will buy a Powershift for my bad traffic. For the same 100,001 KM by the time my warranty expires, I bet my clutch will be doing 100s if not 1000s more shifting cycles than you guys in countries with less horrible traffic jam like mine. I will sell this car at 90,000km or 2.7 years , unless Ford allows repair kit for the clutch system like how it is on manual gearbox ..do they offer the repair kit for PS guys ? All other aspects of the Fiesta is good. ( except steering rack hehehehe ). . |

Mine behieved like that until about 15000 km, now it's lost all it's lurchiness at low rpm. The only time it remotely acts like a dct is when I drive it in cold temps, and it only does it for the first few shifts of the day. I am amazed by this thing, and for what I generally use the car for, I'd buy it again. The only improvement I would want from Ford, is a manual shift gate and some paddles.

I have got over 35,000 miles on my PS and it is great. I have learned that when i want to pass someone i shift it from drive (D) to low (L) and the transmission will shift to the lowest gear posible at that speed without going over the redline and as i hit redline it will shift up a gear. so you don't have to worry about the timing of the automatic downshift.

this topic has eased my worries!
I was always concerned about the low speed roughness or 'chug' that I get from time to time. a lot of times it's while driving through a parking lot, or in traffic. And in some cases when you start to accelerate and then need to slow down quickly you can really hear it trying to decide what it's doing "ok I was going to move up a gear but now I need to move down!" Now that I have almost 30k miles on it, it has gotten a lot smoother. I only really notice the roughness at extremely low speeds such as in a parking lot. Phew. Thank you for this topic! |

Someone in this thread brought up a really good point...the ps feels normal to me because every car I've owned (except one) has been a manual transmission...but to those who have never driven a manual, I can definitely see how it feels sketchy to them.

It seems that when the selector is in low it gives the trans a wide open throttle comand so it holds the gear as long as posible before shifting to the next higher gear. I found out about it when I took off from a stand still and I was acidently in low
and I saw that it shifted while in low and that got my curiosity going so I wanted to see how many gears it would shift thru.
