Default Speaking of PowerShift transmission...

Ford seems to have posted a video on it using a Focus:

Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly. Click here to see how YouTube videos should be embedded. There could also be a technical issue that's not your fault. Click here to view the video on YouTube's site. If this link doesn't work, you did something wrong.

I know it's late to the game, but it answers a few of the questions I've had in the back of my mind

This should be a sticky. With all the posts re "problems" with the PS tranny, I think that many would be relieved to see that their PS is behaving as designed.

Yep, it acts like that after I had a TSB applied last summer (?) It answered my questions after a couple of minutes of sqawking beforehand.

Perhaps it may have to do with the fact that manual drivers are typically conscious that there is a minimum speed that one can drive smoothly (i.e. whatever speed the car moves at idle with first gear fully engaged). Automatic drivers may not realize that the PowerShift has the same limitation, since torque converter automatics stay smooth at lower speeds using torque converter slippage. So, while parking, an automatic driver may try to drive below the minimum speed and encounter the roughness.

I agree 100%. I believe that most of the concerns with the Powershift are the result of not understanding what it is and how it works.

Love my 5-speed; if I can't shift it, I won't drive it!

Before I bought my Fiesta , I did some online research on the car and particularly on the powershift. I was somewhat familiar with similar transmissions in various European cars.
Then my dealer let me drive one for an hour unaccompanied
I have been a manual transmission guy for many years. I intended to stay that way until I drove the PS.
I was intrigued . I have always been drawn to new inovations.
So after 13 months and 17.5 K miles, I am happy I made the switch.

Default it's fun

It really enjoyable to drive with this transmission, and it's gotten more responsive after 1000 miles.

Are those the SVT wheels on the silver car?

The u-tube video is everything I've already discovered. Time will tell how durable it ends up being; but, right now at almost 28,000 miles, I'm finding the PS to be rather robust. Interesting to note that the engineer did note that the harder you drive it, the more fun it will be to drive and I'm finding that exactly with my car. After driving many manuals and autos, the PS is definitely in a class by itself.
