Default Any steering rack a problem for USA & Europe Fiesta ?

For my Asian version from Thailand, we have defective steering rack for models before certain months of 2011. Right hand drive.

Mine is already making the "very-worn-out" sound of an old junky car within 1670 miles and waiting for parts to come. I think I am no 40 on the waiting list . Ford will replace it under warranty but Thailand flooding is delaying everything....

Hope you guys in USA do not have such problem

Wow, I'm glad someone else is having this problem. My steering wheels is starting to "clunk" like it has a bad end link or something, or even worse, the intermediate shaft failure of my old Impala...

TSB 11-10-28 was issued for this problem for Fiesta's built before 8/15/11. They just replaced my steering column shaft the other day. Working good as new now...

You know this TSB thingy is funny. I sent my driver to Ford authorized center due to that noisy steering and also oil leaking on my transmission/engine bell housing. The leak was the so called grease. Cleaned , solved.

Ford immediately confirmed the steering rack problem and I told my driver to make sure Ford does all the TSB ( but steering rack is not in my TSB list , according to Ford etis. I got instrument cluster, carpet and forgot 1 more TSB). The local Ford said TSB is trade secret....hahahaha and I am not supposed to know but they will do it. Anyway I got them to scratch off the paint for the grounding lug.

I am sure in the US they will show you all the TSB for your particular car..no?

TSBs are available in the US and Canada through third-party websites offering subscription services. For other countries, it will vary in who gets to offer the TSBs. In most cases, it is rare that a dealer provide copies of TSBs to their customer unless asked or extreme circumstances.

Your dealer is a bit right in saying it's a trade publication in that it is really not meant as documents for public use or consumption. In most cases, the general customer doesn't care about the details of the TSB - they just want the issue resolved or fixed. The other issue with TSBs is that they may (or may not) apply to your particular vehicle.

People often mistake TSBs as "free" warranty items. In reality, they are (should) be done when there is a particular issue. If warranty still applies, then the hours and parts charged to the task are reflected as warranty work; otherwise, the hours and parts are billed at the going rate.

Yeah, I live in a fairly rural area where not many people are up to speed on this new-fangled thing called the internet, lol, so they were almost interrogating me on how I knew about the tsb for the throttle hang pcm update. Yeah, that was funny... Anyways, I scheduled an appointment to get the steering racked look at (again, quoted the tsb). Hopefully they can repair it in a couple days.

In my case they had to order the replacement parts which took a few days to arrive at the dealer, so you may not be able to get the work done in the same trip.
