-10f here yesterday and it felt like someone had mounted my shift lever in heavy clay until everything got warmed up a bit from driving.

This is in my 2002 SVTF with fresh trans oil and new shift cables, it's just par for the course in this climate.

I was thinking of bringing it in and having the dealer adjust the linkage but noy sure if there is an adjustment at all. any info would be appreciated.

The Tech could not find any leak and she wasn't marking her spot in my driveway so I guess the factory shorted it. Hi thorny196,

Glad to learn your Fiesta is driving marvelously! If you ever need assistance in the future, give me a shout out.

2011 manual, and in cold weather, 3rd (and sometimes 4th) gear is hard to engage.
I did bring it in and they said the shift linkage (forget the exact term) was the cause. They packed it with grease and said if the issue was not resolved they would swap it out.
I'm about to bring it back because the problem returned this week.
Hello Cobbie66,

I know it's a little late, but how is your Fiesta driving? Has the problem been resolved? Please let me know if you need any assistance.

Hi Deffala5942,

Have you taken the Fiesta to the local Ford dealer? If not, let them have a look at your vehicle as soon as possible, it may not be anything, but better safe than sorry. At the same time send me a PM with the VIN, current mileage as well as your personal and dealer contact info and I'll have the regional Customer Service Manager assist in your case.

Have a good evening everyone!

Noemi

Mine shifts hard in the cold also. I read on here that the tranmission uses syntetic but my understanding is synthetic doesnt shift hard in the cold

All Ford front wheel drive manual transmissions over the last 12 years or so have used full synthetic oil in them.

It's not just the oil that contributes to the hard shifting, it's the bushings getting stiff and the grease in the shift cables.

I've driven nothing but manual transmission cars since 2000 and they've all shifted hard when really cold.

Back in the 90s I had a 1965 Chevy Carryall with a 283 2bbl with a three on the tree and even that shifted hard when it was cold.

Even automatics behave differently when they're really cold, extreme cold is just hard on everything.

I have the same issue when it's cold. Even when I let the car warm up fist.

Can we check the Fluid Levels ourselves or do we have to bring the car in to the dealership?

Hi Neely2005,

As I stated, if your Fiesta is acting outside of the norm, please set up an appointment at the local Ford dealership for diagnoses. At the same time, send me a PM with the VIN, current mileage as well as your personal and dealer contact info. I'll have a Customer Service Manager contact the dealer for further assistance.

You do have the option of checking the fluid levels. Instructions are provided in the Owner Guide. If you decide to perform the recommended maintenance yourself, please retain documentation for warranty purposes.

Take care!

Noemi
