Default Evap Canister

Had my second oil change on Thursday @ 14,2** miles, and had the grounding TSB done because I have had a couple no start incidents. Today I was out on a drive and my check engine light came on. I checked the code on my Ultra Gauge, and headed to the dealer which was only a mile out of the way.

They got me right in, and checked the codes. It took them about three hours to decide that it was the Evap canister system causing the codes. They ordered a new system and it will be here in a couple days. They said the car will be fine to drive until then.

Other than the first time I filled, and spilled gas on the ground I have been very careful to stop on the first click of the pump.

I'm pretty happy with the service department thus far, but is sure going to be annoying driving around with the check engine light on all the time.

There is a TSB on that.
If you had a code reader, you could turn light off, of course it might come back on.

Yeah I can shut it off with the Ultra Gauge. I read the code and didn't think about shutting it off.

Hey FXSTi,

Glad your experience with the service department has been great. If you like, send me a PM with the VIN, current mileage, personal and dealer contact info and I can have a CSM provide further assistance.

Thanks,

Noemi

Noemi,

Thank, I will if I have any problem, but doubt that will happen. I have bought five cars from this dealer in the last six years. They treat me pretty good. I expect it will be resolved quickly.

I'm glad Ford Customer Service is so proactive in this forum, but I am happy to let the dealership resolve the problem first.

Iceracer,

Resetting the alarm works for about one minute.

Just an update. I took my car in today and they replaced the canister. The dealership had the part for over a week but my schedule kept me from getting in until today. No problem.
