The Ford ESP actually does give some exceptionally good coverage, it's no scam. Sadly I can't say the same for some of the aftermarket warranties out there.

Say the bumper to bumper coverage runs out at 36k and your CD player goes out at 40k, a new Ford head unit typically runs in the $600-$1000 range.

Now say something fails in the HVAC system and it require removal of the dash to replace the A/C evaporator or heater core.

I'm not saying these things will happen but they can and if they do an ESP can more than pay for itself with just one or two repairs.

If on the other hand you don't plan to keep the car that long or don't mind taking the risk of having to pay ourt of pocket for major repairs later then don't get it.

I do understand how annoying it can be the way some of those people in finance and stuff can be though, they should take a simple no for an answer but you can't blame them for trying to make sure you're fully aware of all your options.

The treatment people get unfortunately varies from dealer. I've heard of the high-pressure tactics used by some; others don't pressure the customer into something they don't need.

Ford's extended warranty is really good. I think a lot of people don't realize that they can shop around for the price of a Ford Extended Service Plan, and can have it added later before their bumper-to-bumper basic warranty ends. I know extended warranties are hotly debated topics that people will not agree to regarding their value.
