Default powershift issue ? grinding sound

Ok so here it goes, my car and ive noticed it more since i went back in it today after the repair of my passenger side doors, Has been making a faint noise since the winter cold time had shown up. Now thou it is making a kind of grinding noise when driving between 50 to 70 km/h

it sounds like a computer hard drive in search mode, kinda that weird screaching sound !

has this been noted before, id like to have some back up meat to show to my dealership service guy !

Check out the "noise from front left side" thread. In there a few people including myself have had our transmissions replaced due to this noise.

Yes, it goes away at a lower speed but if you're in the 25-35mph range you can hear it with no throttle. But if you're on the throttle in that speed range, it'll go away sometimes. Still makes me think it's wind noise. But if that were the case it'd get worse with speed.

I strongly believe it's the wind deflector in front of the radiator. It does it on mine('11 SE) and my brothers' ('12 SFE). Now if it is actually metallic grinding... then it could be different.

Ours does it randomly yet periodically between 30-45MPH. He gets it less than mine, but I think it's because his front fascia is different (Sedan versus Hatchback). It's easily observed around 35-40. It's been apparent on mine for over 7,500 miles. It hasn't gotten worse, or better for that matter. It seems to be the same, and varies on time of day, temperature, and air density.

That's why I'm almost convinced its the deflector reacting to the air pressure. Too little pushing on the deflector, and it's not enough, no noise. Too much, it pushes it back fully. In the middle, the deflector moves back and forth.

I hope this may help.

I thought it was the wind deflectors as well and stopped all movement by putting in some foam into the lower crevice where the just enough space.

It snugged it up real good where I couldn't budge it. I highly doubt its the wind noise from that area unless its something else behind it or elsewhere...
