I do agree that 4 within the US is a little light on the side of JIT supply.
Ford does not use "JIT".

Ford has a nationwide depot system that actually works incredibly well, consider the fact that about 4500 dealerships get daily stockorders from Ford and you'll realize the scope of this.

The problem with the Fiesta pumps is that it's a basically new to market vehicle and no one has any idea what's going to be required since no one knows what will fail.

Add to that a supply issue with the manufacturer and you get backorders.

Yes I also mentioned in my post that there are four pumps scattered around the country but I also mentioned that they may not actually be available for sale.

When a part is special ordered it comes in and sits on the shelf until the customer comes in to get the work done and during that time the part will be in the dealers inventory and will show up on the parts locator.

I agree have enough parts on hand because you never know when something will happen.

I believe you SVTPARTS but I have to check with the engineer in my family. He dealt with all this stuff.

Well it's been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for a waterpump.

Still quietly, patiently, calmly waiting.
At least the car is still drivable since it's a slow leak.

WOW what would a guy do if your Ford was out of warranty, the waterpump crapped out and there are none available?

The availability issue currently is due to the part being so new that there is no sales history on it and therefore no way to judge needed stocking levels.

This happens with every new car and it happens with every vehicle manufacturer from time to time.

By the time the car is out of warranty there will be pretty clear history of what parts fail and what parts do not.

No manufacturer stocks parts that don't fail at least not in any real quantity.

Well, not quite. I went out of standard warranty a few weeks ago, and I know I'm not the only one who ran up 36K miles in so short a time. Here's hoping that the water pump issue for the OP is an isolated case...

I think you still have a powertrain warranty.

36k+ in such a short time is not common at all, besides if the pumps were a high faliure item you'd see a whole bunch of people on here yelling about it.

The vast majority of drivers average 10-12k a year.

I have 117k on my SVT which is an average of 11,700 per year and I drive it every day and it was the only car we had for a couple years.

Afternoon blue moon.

Thanks for patiently waiting, lol. Not many would have your attitude.

I have reached out to the Customer Service Manager who is scheduled to reach out to you tomorrow. So keep your phone next to you, okay?!

Thanks,

Noemi
